Needs some balls whipped in from out wide. Barco could get him firing again
Add to that the fact that Roma keep clean sheets at a similar rate to us, so if goals are to come for Ferguson this might be the game for him. The problem is that Roma also score goals at a ferocious rate right now.

My message to RDZ, (if he would listen to a humble pleb such as myself) on Evan Ferguson would be "persevere, persevere, persevere".

The way I see it, it might not be that soon.
But he's going to be a quality PL striker for the next decade, let's get him in and get through these growing pains.
Let's let the lad know he has our absolute support.
Personally, I think he's a great kid and will be a top, top player.

From the last several games I've seen with him in. He has about 5 touches per half. Isn't involved enough & isn't doing enough to warrant his place in the team. He is no good at holding it up with his back to goal. & his movement into the channels is non existent. Sadly, I'm not feeling positive about his future.

Could well be a flash in pan Aaron Connolly mk2. I really think he could benefit from a Championship loan next season to have a strong season, get 30 goals and more experience as unless performances dramatically improve we surely can’t give him as much game time as he needs to develop if we have lofty expectations

Tempting to say he needs more game time, but at the same time he's not really making the most of his limited opportunities. Tho tends to get chucked on by RDZ more in hope than expectation
It could also be that without Mitoma and March, the quality and/or style of service has changed? Adingra in the last few months doesn't really cross into the box, neither does Buonanotte and Estupinan is all over the place. Our main wingers are both cut in and shoot players or (as demonstrated last night repeatedly) pass back to your fullback players. Adingra has had a great 1st season, but he has not been good since coming back from AFCON.
Ferguson's goals tend to be from getting to the byline and cutting back to him, snapshots after a touch or getting the ball to him on the run into the box, NONE of which we're providing to him at the moment. Add that to the fact that he's now being properly marked and you have a young player that's trying to force the issue himself.
I think he's a far, far better prospect than the one-dimensional Connolly ever was. But I still think he should have gone on loan last year (and I got shot down on here numerous times for saying it). He burst on to the scene, but strikers thrive on confidence, and when the goals dry up for a bit they go to pieces. That happens to 28 year old strikers in their prime, and watching it happen to a 19 year old with all the pressure of the Premier League shows a mistake in the development plan in my opinion. He's in his own head at the moment, and the best way to solve that is to drop down a level and smash some goals in. If we can keep hold of Pedro then we don't desperately need him at the moment, he should be one for the future. The comparisons to Connolly for me are around the way the club have managed him, rather than anything to do with the two players' abilities.
Yes. It was noticeable last night that we slung quite a few crosses in. But then when Ferguson cam on, so we had two up top - we basically stopped doing so until the last few minutes.

Yes agree.
Look, he was poor yesterday. The worst i've seen him. But I remain convinced he'll be a top striker.
Giving him up and binning of to Coventry didn't work with Gyokeres and Evan has done miles more than he had at that age.
He needs games, he needs to learn his trade, he needs the space to have the bad games which all inexperienced players will have.
