Ar that'll be yer QR code.

Yes I know that now.
I didn't realise I needed a small swipe upwards to bring up the code.
The blue and white Season Ticket was on my phone for a week showing the scan sign.
My two technical savvy sons didn't realise it either.
The first steward at the phone reader didn't know.
It will be interesting how the club sort out the other issues.
I have no problem with what happened, we won :)

It all turned out ok in the end :) hopefully next Saturday when we all remember which button to press on our mobile and get the phone/ ticket in the correct scanner, things may be a bit easier.

I don't know if it was because there was a bit of a queue for the turnstiles when I arrived but I wasn't even asked by anyone to show it in the end.

Lady steward made me persevere so on the 7th attempt my android phone worked

My experience with NFC is my phone can be quite fussy about having the NFC chip as close as possible to the NFC reader in order to work. As I've been using my NFC functionality for a medical device for a few years now I know exactly where it's located on my phone, but it's pretty unforgiving.

It's probably worth getting familiar with exactly where the chip is located in your phone as this varies from model to model.

The location can vary wildly between model even if they are from the same manufacturer.

E.g. these are some Samsung NFC locations:

Sony Xperia devices:
The NFC detection area is located on the front of the device. Hold your device close to another device or an NFC reader so that the NFC detection areas touch.

If the NFC tap on the top of the turnstile scanner does not work it's far easier to switch to Plan B.
Namely, on android phones just below the blue ticket tap where it says ' show code ' to expose the QR code. This can then be scanned underneath the turnstile scanner. On Saturday most of the stewards knew this.

Same function available on iPhones if you press the 3-dots button at the top right of the screen with your ticket on.

I cannot see this option on my phone.

I think that's what I did, I looked at the square barcode thingy and put it under the scanner. I'm trying to take this 'dragged screaming into the 21st century' lark step by step
