[Albion] GP: I think that anyone who criticises someone like Dan Burn doesn't understand football.

It's the one thing I find stops me warming overly to Potter. Not the first time he's had a little pop at the fans. It's just a bit unnecessary (and interesting that the OP left out the little fact of the question he was asked and responding to, as he also loves to show his contempt towards the fans of the club while jerking off to Potter). Hats off to Potter as he has orchestrated quite the turn around in recent games. I had remained on the Fence with him (only just recently a little lean more towards Out) but we have been brilliant for the last 4 games and good on him. I love the Albion and have never criticised the lads directly at a game in person or on social media (well, just once at the end of the 0-5 at Scumhurst when I gave a thumbs down to the players at the end coming over) but I think he should be a bit more diplomatic at times.
As for Dan Bern, I put my comments on the other thread about him. He's an excellent squad player but should rarely be in the first 11, still incredibly useful to have in the group. Potter utilised him brilliantly for Liverpool and he played a blinder, well done to both.

And I don't understand football. Still a petty comment to make though.

Have you watched it though? I think the words appear harsher in print.

GP being asked what he thought about critics of Burn. It does match his mantra of only concerning yourself with things you can control. His answer is fairly calm and not hostile. Watch the clip if you haven’t.

I make a point of not doing “dithering” :lolol:

You’d be one of the first out of the dressing room too, too much negativity and shit stirring

THPP on a freebie, any takers?

We could send him on loan to Owlstalk or ArsenalfanTV for the rest of the season, with a view to a permanent deal?

Oy! That's my mate, you're talking about. I don't agree with all of his opinions but you're not shipping him out. :annoyed:

I have no doubt in Burn’s commitment and effort. He is however a limited footballer especially when employed as a Left back. He loses players, he sometimes fails to track back, he slows down play when attacking as he usually turns back with the ball. I am pleased he did well yesterday but putting him up against quick players is dangerous . Just because it worked or more accurately we got away with it yesterday (first minute) doesn’t make it a good idea for the rest of the season.

BDB is definitely approaching cult hero status!
Just need a vital goal. Or a worldie. He's got it in him.

Oh yea, thats a dream of mine.. to watch him score a goal, think he would be batshit happy (unless the team is losing).

Wouldnt say yesterday was a very good chance though - BDB shooting on a bouncing ball with his right foot? xG must be somewhere around 000.1.

Burn did score a brilliant goal for us against Bournemouth at home last season.

Flicked it over his head and then spanked it into the net on the volley.

He was mobbed

About 4 and a half minutes later VAR chalked it off

BDB just laughed

You're right, guilty as charged, not watched it. And tbf I think I've fallen for a bit of a "woosh" from Swansmam, who likes to antagonise (maybe it was an error to wipe off my ignore list and read all posts now haha). More importantly, better to focus on the joy of the win and again, hats off to Potter and the lads.

I saw it as more of a "pop" against media and its army of Clinton Morrisons and Alan Smiths but either which way; its very typical of keyboard warriors to sit around and throw shit any time they get the opportunity, but when they are recieving something that could be interpreted as "a little pop" they go mad about how immoral it is. Apparently its 100% okay to sit around and say that the manager or any player is shite and should never wear the shirt or is a clueless ******* or whatever, but its not okay for the manager/the players to defend himself/the players? Its also quite funny that you're saying "Potter should be a bit more diplomatic" considering how much shit he gets from some fans, partly for being "too dull and nice".

I have never or would ever give shit to players wearing the shirt or the manager. I was horrified at an Albion away game back in the day when a guy stood next to me shouted out "I wish you were dead!" to Barry Lloyd at the end of the game as he trudged across the pitch. ~And he turned round!! i mean ffs I love the Albion but it's just a game.

Fans spouting rubbish and venting on a message board is different. Neither the players or manager should be reading it. (Twitter and Instagram is different and should be punishable, as in the racist rubbish we see nowadays sadly, but I don't use either of those platforms).
Also, I believe a manager should rise above it not sink down to it.

On this page.

Not exactly over his head, but a proper tidy piece of work

See the colleague reaction and just as funnily the reaction from Eddie Howe

Nice.

He did some absolutely magnificent moves WBA as well. This video - https://streamable.com/2y08hu - only captures the latter part, but he took the ball down in a Zinedine Zidaneian / Dennis Bergkampian manner right before it.

And then of course there is this one:

Burn will be playing a lot more now, probably in attacking areas

I do think to be balanced, we're going to have at accept that there are days where he'll get trounced in a foot race, or be continually playing opponents onside, or will shank a cross to the stands or he'll blaze over from close range and generally cost us goals and points and wins.

Burn is a random player who will do random things.

But you have to counter that with what he brings

Look at his passing in the build up to the goal, he is properly secure in possession. Look at how he charges up and down, look at the outlet he provides.

Stop being so precious. As I said earlier, he has every right to defend himself and his tactics given some of the nonsense which gets said. Far rather this than bland answers.

I don't feel precious or in any way offended about it, just making a minor comment that's all ! Bit polar extremes. He indeed has every right to defend himself and tactics, he's been under pressure. Although with no fans in the ground, where really is the pressure coming from to defend himself? A few tweets and journo comments?

ANYONE who says that someone else "doesn't understand football" is clearly being a cock. Them's the rules, and always were

To be fair, Tom, if anyone on here knows about "being a cock" ....

From just 19 days ago:

**** of a 'head coach' clearly trying to engineer a pay-off for him and his team of guys that cling to his rubbish coat-tails. Rookie EPL owner TB clearly being shafted here

Manager and all his little elves are a disgrace to the club. Sake! Don't reflect too highly on TB's footballing judgement also ???

I expect that Potter's rather more worried about his players reading people slagging them off or worse, rather than actually being bothered by randomer's opinions of himself.

Given the younger age of most of the players I expect they spend more time than they should reading crap about themselves online and being relatively young are likely to be more affected by it.
