I thought Hughton had lost the dressing room after Bournemouth. But after we stayed up and the great point at Arsenal i thought he deserved a window to turn it around. Bloom didn't and i don't begrudge that, but he showed very little patience with one of our greatest ever managers so I'm surprised we're being told to stay patient with a bloke who has imho only really achieved a 'record points tally' (2 points more than our first season in the Prem) with a useful 3 month break after 3 months without a win and then a handy 5 subs to use in empty stadiums

I liked Hughton's counter attacking football. I had no issues in our first season in the Premier League but it went wrong when a load of people spat the dummy at three consecutive 1-0 wins where we were up against it. But looking back, what would we give for 3 wins and clean sheets now? And 3 brilliant performances by Maty.

I don't agree scoring is our problem, we scored 3 tonight and still didn't win despite 5 centre backs in the side.

Lack of alternatives is probably the best reason for keeping him in a job tbh. Good performances mean very little if you don't get the results. With City and Leeds to come we don't look likely to hit 30 points at the moment; that's not good enough.

He may not have been given cash but he's been given a player who could have been sold for £25 million and frequently played him out of position. This, in addition to 2 England Internationals and a Champions League finalist. Not backed, really? He also had £20m on Webster, 20m on Maupay, £3m on Lamptey, £18m on Trossard, and £3m on Mooy (plus £3m on Zequiri). It's not as if he's had nothing to work with. It started well and has faded badly, he can turn it around but he's very lucky a lack of alternatives have prevented him losing his job

All very good points and I wasn’t looking for an argument but tonight aside we’ve battered teams and lost because we don’t score enough goals, this is something recognised by the media, football fans and pundits nationally. I will not accept that our style of football has gone backwards although do completely agree about playing players out of position and second guessing his line up doesn’t help him!

I have to ask one more time. Who do you bring in to replace him? (I voted Ruel Fox btw)
Anyway, Happy New Year to you sir and thank you.

Out. System is not right for the player we have.

Either our wing backs system goes, or Potter goes.

Agree with this.

Manager needs to be playing their players to their strengths.

Not trying to shove square pegs in round holes all the time just to try and get your desired system to work.

So you can’t suggest anyone at all? At least you did better than the previous poster

That's not up to me to come up with suggestions.

It's up to the present manager to show he can get regular results in whatever style it takes.

As it is he's turned the Amex into a fortress...

For the opposition.

The man needs a Job he might fancy a stint in the PL. :)

Ha ha fair play but come on, the Potter out brigade need to come up with a sensible replacement. I’m all ears but nobody can name anyone that’s realistic!

The good news here is I’m finally starting to feel sleepy so I’ll be gone soon :)

Well I’m awake again

What a ridiculous response! If you want him out fine but tell us all who will do a better job???

Despite being a likeable guy and trying to get us to play nice football, 1 win in 15 under Potter isn't good enough.

Fulham have two games in hand and if they get 3-4 points from this (depending on goal difference), we're in the relegation zone. Although this is not likely, and there is a long way to go for the remainder of the season, we are letting the others teams around us catch up, and soon it will be out of our hands. Potter out.

You seem confused.

I'm not a rabid Potter out poster.

The guy needs to improve his game though as it's obvious his team selections and game plans at present are not working at all.

It’s a little difficult to make your team selections and game plans work when one of your players appears to clumsily go on a one man crusade to **** it up!

That doesn't happen if if he doesn't select Burn.

A player who virtually none of the fans would have selected as it's glaringly obvious he's not up to this level anymore.

It was super easy to leave Burn out of the side, Potter chose to play him so Potter wears his performance.

Potter still in.
I like Maupays spirit and energy, but I am not happy with his pumped up claims about how he motivated and inspired the Albions come back done on MOTD when interviewed.

How do you think Potter should deal with him? Slapped thighs, bottom or head?

Or of course we could make him manager???

Out.

Just based on the results and on decisions GP makes. Putting White in midfield was mad - he looks lost - while we had experienced midfielders on the bench. Having watched Burn struggle against Saka he then puts him up against an even faster player.

GP just looks naive and like he is experimenting for fun.

Will be interesting to see if the club back him by buying a striker. If he gets a recognized one and still can’t get results I imagine even his most ardent supporters will have to admit that the xG stat means nothing.

Thing is GP isn’t stupid and Bjorn and Billy Reid must have some input, which makes many of the team selections and positional decisions even more baffling.

Didn't post on here at all last night. Too much going on during the game for any meaningful post not to be reactive and was discussing it afterwards with my fellow mods on whatsapp. Even looking back on that chat this morning two of us had overly pessimistic reactions in the first half. However, did vote "out" there and here, purely because not enough was done to change my mind, but there were some positives. So here are my pros and cons from last night.

Good Potter Things

First and foremost the comeback. We looked dead and buried at halftime but he and the players had more belief than many of us and managed to carry it out.

Substitutions. I said on the whatsapp group that Bissouma, Connolly (injury) and Burn all needed to come off at half time but three subs at HT is risky. Lallana for Burn when he did was also the right change.

Strikers. Great performance from Connolly until the unfortunate injury, Maupay got us back in it and Zeqiri looks like he might have potential. We were in no way toothless, which was good after Arsenal

Formation change (good). Earned the draw with the goals it brought.

Set piece (good). Scored from one

Bad Potter Things

More tinkering. Five centre backs in the starting line up, two of them out of position. When will we learn that White is not a midfielder?

Formation change (bad). Sticking Burn up against Adama. What the actual ***k?

Set piece (bad). Conceding yet another set piece goal, even if it was second phase. We still seem to switch off.

Three goals against in one half at home. Some absolutely criminal defending. Another lead held for too short a time. Happens sometimes in a one off game but the types of errors we made happen regularly. I saw another Everton coming in the first half.

Yet another draw at home

You can debate if this is coaching or player, but Solly March's decision making. What is the point of turning him into an excellent wingback who can also switch to winger if the second he gets to the opposition penalty area he takes a good minute or so to decide what to do before choosing the wrong option?

Playing Dan Burn. Goes back to point one but we could, and should, have gone White Dunk Webster as the three and played one of Gross, Molumby or Propper with Biss. Lallana on was the right change but I assume he doesn't have 90 mins in him.
