Blimey, never thought someone would actually listen to me! Hope it works out for you, and if you get to the end, can we have a brief "wow, brilliant" exchange? Ta :)

I’ll be binge watching the middle episodes of season 2 later this evening. Love it, love the main characters.

Even if it was mediocre, it isn’t, I’d probably doggedly carry on.

I’ve only ever given up on The Good Wife (156 episodes of the same old, will Alicia hook up with her old flame Will or not? zzzzzzzzzz), and a tedious Spanish drama shown on BBC4 a couple of years ago.

I can't believe it hasn't already been mentioned (and am not going to go through 160-odd pages to check), but I've just noticed that Brockmire is on Amazon Prime.

Hank Azaria (who does a number of Simpsons voices) plays old-school baseball announcer Jim Brockmire, trying to rebuild his career in the minor leagues a decade after a notorious meltdown on air when he discovered that his wife had been cheating on him. He's a grotesquely funny character - profane, erudite, alcoholic, immoral. You don't have to like baseball to enjoy it. Parental discretion most definitely advised.

That's because it has been, several times

The consensus is:-

Love series 1
Skip series 2
Love series 3

Series 2 is bad, proper proper bad.

Stick with it for as long as you can, but when it really starts to put you off the memory of series 1 bin it off and go straight to series 3, which once again is freaking hilarious.

I feel your pain. The 2010s was a good moment for TV, as this list of 50 by Rolling Stone shows (Justified comes in at number 8!).

Boardwalk Empire, Halt and Catch Fire, The Shield (still and forever) are similarly good epics to get sucked into if that's what you're after after Bosch again. Or if the one season of Terriers sounds like your thing, then I might know someone who might have it on Dropbox.

Anyway, happy hunting!

Halt and Catch Fire - thanks so much, I just finished it. Brilliant viewing, very touching, I miss Cameron and Joe already. Up there with the best.

Oh I'm so pleased you liked it. It's certainly "one of those", and spending time in all their companies was a treat, wasn't it. When I'd finished it, in mourning, I was moved enough to *geek alert* send a tweet to one of the creators, who was gracious enough to reply. A superlative story told by humble people. Welcome to the Mutiny family!!

This one really will stay in the memory. Lee Pace and Mackenzie Davis  were both brilliant, as were all the other main actors.

I didn't realise we'd had season 4.

I'm halfway through what is the dystopian future Jim:-

All the usuals:-

Murder
Corruption
Linked to DC
Small Town (extreme temperature!)
Returning vengeful sibling.

I never watched Twin Peaks as that was far too 'out there' for me in my formative yoof.
Briarpatch does seem to be enjoying a similar quirky, offbeat moody look at life.

If that's not your bag, the whole thing is produced by and staring Rosario Dawson as the kick ass vengeful sibling.

Is this on TV, Netflix or Amazon?

I been watching this on Amazon which is pretty good:

Absentia
After being declared dead in absentia, an FBI agent must reclaim her family, identity and innocence when she finds herself the prime suspect in a string of murders.

I dunno where it is over here as I'm 'shiver me timbers' and 'walking the plank' on this one.

Not obscure or everyone's cup of tea but from next Saturday Bbc2 are showing the 90s Battlestar Galactica from the beginning and the whole thing will be on iPlayer. I don't get a lot of the hype but it's very good

If you're in the mood for something dark, HBO's film noir reboot of Perry Mason is excellent.

This 8 part prequel version of Mason is Set in 1930s California, he is now a Private Detective living with PTSD from his experiences in WW1 France.

9/10. Gritty but Great.

Yeah we discussed it when started.

I stuck with it and really enjoyed it, someone was a little put off by the HBOness of the first couple of episodes.

It did calm down, a little and become more procedural.

There's a podcast called Battlestar Galacticast where they have gone through each episode in detail, with guests from the show, it's hosted by Marc Bernardin (former entertainment journalist, writer of comic books and TV shows), and Tricia Helfer (one of the stars of BSG). Each episode of the podcast deals with a single episode of the show, in order. https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/battlestar-galacticast/id1445475337

I missed this the first time as it didn't seem like my kind of thing. Once I realised it was a very black comedy and you'er supposed to hate them all it was excellent

I've just watched the opening episode of:-

Lovecraft-Country.jpg

It feels like this the TV choice the thread title has been waiting for.

JJ Abhams & Jordan Peele link up and seemingly each produce the programme of their dreams, then squish both shows together in order to make one very obscure show.
