First maybe I should mention that I neither like police officers in general as they are often the worst kind of human beings (along with journalists and politicians), and I dont like police as a concept.

But if I ignore those thoughts for a minute and just think of the current situation: if they are not very very soft right now, if they make a tiny misstep, you are in deep deep trouble.

well we all know you're our resident middle class anarchist, so your comments are as usual worthless.

I socialise with a lot of police, both regular bobbies and firearms units, and they don't fit your prejudiced, deliberately inflammatory viewpoint!

I take a different view in that we need Police but they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. As for the concept, what do you see as an alternative to maintaining law and order?

Another lad shot in Atlanta , resist arrest , took taser off copper , was running away , shot in the back , dead.......despite the mayhem of the last few weeks it appears that cops in the states are unable to stop themselves from murdering criminals. There was another guy , a white guy , shot dead by cops recently
they just don't seem to be able to help themselves.

I can handle him following me around making a fool of himself and getting destroyed EVERY time. It's shooting fish in a barrel after all. I also get that after being schooled, he's hurting and is desperately trying to fight back, despite being ill equipped to fight his way out of a wet paper bag, intellectually speaking.......

But bringing me into something which I've not even commented on is out of order.

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] You’ve commented on the British Police on another thread , the only reason you’ve avoided posting on this thread with your views of them are that you know your out numbered by those with a different opinion (Who’s a clever boy)that’s why you loiter on the Brexit thread or similar.

Yes I know it’s like fighting cheese and I’m thick [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I think telling someone that they have been put on ignore, is a bit "look at me", but I have put up with some of your neo-liberal ideas and spoutings for too long, and now feel it is time for you to go on the naughty step, bye bye...

Thank you very much. As a career police officer of 30 years who always did his best to serve the community, I am surprised to know that's what you think of me as we've never met but I guess you must have met most of the 100,000 or so other officers in the country in order to be able to come to such a view! All the best to you too.

I think you'll realise from the thrumbs you're received, if not the general tone on here over the years, that Swansman's views are eccentric and not shared.

As someone who has been kettled during a protest on more than one occasion I think it’s a huge assumption that tensions are only escalated by those wanting a scrap. There are several videos circulating of the police on horseback charging at protestors, whether to disperse, to intimidate, I can’t say. Ultimately it lead an officer and a protestor needing medical attention.

Mmmmmm.......I have only ever been on a couple of demos, never been kettled at all. Why do you think that you have been?

I may have attracted the attention of the boys in blue at footy a couple of times mind.........nothing serious before you all start! :lolol:

Firstly, to clarify, the bike wasn’t thrown at it was rolled towards them. Either way, horrible thing to do but language is important here. Secondly, said bike was rolled at a black horse, the horse that bolted was brown. Thirdly, It’s basic causality. There is video evidence of the police charging at protestors on horseback prior to said accident. Having watched several different videos of the events unfolding, it looks like police were preparing another charge on the lead up to the accident (link to video below). These tactics were only going to increase the likelihood of further violence and I question whether there were proportionate to what had preceded it.

Put the cretin on ignore like I have.

The fewer people that engage with the dimbots, racists and sad men with tiny willies the sooner they might shut up and go away:shrug:

Saw the videos on the news. Seems the Police were pretty much bang to rights, right up to the point the trigger was pulled. They have his car and, if it's anything like the UK I assume from that they'll have the address and name. Even after all that, if they felt they had to pull the trigger, why the **** do they always aim for the torso and not the leg!!! Guessing that will be their training, probably where a lot of their problems lie!

Are the police not currently struggling to maintain order owing to an event that happened weeks ago in the U.S ....?? It would show that despite the BLM movements protests on a global level that the American coppers just can't help shooting suspects......sorry , are we on some sort of criteria here ..??

Yep , but they still burned the venue down , both cops stood down and the police commissioner resigned immediately.......says something about the mentality of these cops that they are so willing to kill despite the likely outcome , particularly after Minneapolis....!! i mean ffs i that can't bring about change what can..?

So if someone came round your house, held a gun to your face, raped your other half or family members, then stole everything you had of any value.. you'd call who, exactly. The Samaritans?

We exist in a country which has some social stability because we have a Police Force who uphold the law. If you don't like it, toddle off to Venezuela where your dreams can come true

*Failing that, if self-protection is your thing, Texas.. where you can lock yourself in a house with boarded up windows and sit in a chair 24-7 with a shotgun on your lap...

In this case I, like most would call the police, but, I would probably go full 'Liam Neeson'. Meaning, they would have to find the perps before I did.
