Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
Today doesn't change a thing people. It is still the same old EU. They put these ridiculous laws in place and the British follow them to the letter, it is what we do. The French and all that other lot, well they just say meh and carry on as they have always done, so in the end it is only us who are doing things by the book.

When we take back control we will be able to set our own laws and follow them, except when they are not the will of the people, or if we inconveniently neglected to tell the truth or it doesn't suit our warped view of the world, or if it inconveniences our friends.

Good wind up. You managed to catch a few.

The patricians elect the consuls and the plebeians have no say.
To think - as we see another old Etonian break the law in governance - that anything will ever change.

Have you ever visited planet earth?
That is the most ridiculous comment.
It had nothing to do with the French or EU it was between Johnson, the government and Gina Millar in the highest British court of law.
But I do understand that you have blown a gasket.

We have actually got to the point where Remainers posting sarcastic posts are more believable than any arguments posted by Leavers :lolol:

This my friend is the Brexit Thread.

In amongst all the name calling and one upmanship, there are four pro Brexit themes.

1 We will get better trade deals - wrong.
2 We will take back control of our borders - apart from that awkward Irish bit, we forgot about.
3 We will not have to follow EU law, as we are the only country in Europe that actually obeys the law. - really !
4 We will save lots of money to put into the NHS - wrong.

Instead of blaming the people who said from day one, that isn't true and it will never work, when are the believers going to start holding the people to account, who have pointed at the sunny uplands and navigated into a wet ditch?

I do not think that he should resign because he would have acted on the advice of his advisors and legal team who would have said the action was lawful... Because thje Supreme Court said it wasn't is just a different interpretation of the laws, upon which they have ruled. If anybody should resign it is the entire government which would mean a GE which is what Boris wanted in the first place. This idea doesn't follow with Corbyn and Co as they know they would get slaughtered and the Tory majority would increase dramatically. So what do we do? Just carry on as was and Tory MPs talk out any ideas and motions put forward.

What has Gina miller done?

The constant changes of law prior to this and for the judges to make a decision on a political matter as they did today will cause outrage.
The smug MPs who are thinking they got victory will look back on their actions when this country explodes, mentally and physically.

This is a sad day for the UK.

Those MPs and supporters of this constant drive to stop the people's decision should hang their heads in shame.

Incredible.

So you are anti-law? Do you think you should be able to kill people in the name of Brexit, and not face any consequences?

Nurse ? Nurse ? BGs going off on one again. You don't think the job of Prime Minister should include exercising judgement?
If the Supreme Court has an interpretation of law it is not different it is definitive!

The Courts: "The Government acted unlawfully."

Mouldy Boots: "It's everyone but the Government who should be ashamed of themselves."

Corbyn doesn't want a GE until the deadline of 31 October is extended, otherwise we could go out on a no deal. I think that is an entirely reasonable position for him, and the rest of Parliament to take.

In answer to Mouldy Boots, the Tories have tried to enact the People's Vote with 'their' version of Brexit, a version they don't have political support for. That is the law of the land, that is democracy. That may not suit some people. This is why private companies are not democratic. It is messy, ugly, inefficient, but it's democratic.

The moment in 2017 when the Tories had to jump into bed with the DUP was the moment Brexit died. Not this ruling, not other MPs. They knew within their own ranks their divisions that would prevent their deal getting over the line. They spent 2 years negotiating a back stop their own party wouldn't vote for, let alone across the house. The joke is blaming the judiciary or parliament for this!

There is no Tory majority to increase. They're at -43.

Johnson WILL have resignations on his hands, they might not leave the party, but they will certainly leave the cabinet.

He chose to break the law, he has got to take responsibility for his actions. He got found out.

I don't think Brexit is dead, i think this ruling increases the likelihood of no deal. With all the political shenanigans over here, who could blame the EU from walking away from us now? Their patience may run out even if Boris is forced to ask for an extension. I don't believe he will ask in any case, he will try to weasel out of it.

It is fair to blame parliament. A massively remain favouring parliament initially agreed to uphold the referendum, even the liberals stated they would respect it. Creeping rebellion set in and now after 3 years, remain elements are invigorated and emboldened and many simply don't care at all about the largest vote in our countries history.

Whichever the outcome, there is a LOT of trouble coming over this.

He will not resign, and shouldnt, but what will he do is the question.

Why should he not resign? While I am not a monarchist, he has at worst lied to the Queen, or at best misled and compromised her position. What is going on at the moment is unparalleled in our history for centuries, and it is Johnson who has caused it.

If the mps don't like it, they can call a vote of no confidence. Once again, all sides are acting in their own self interest. It's a Mexican standoff.
