[Football] Zaha... cheat

A nudge with the upper half of your body is just a normal part of the game. If slight nudges like that were always penalised, then there would be dozens of fouls every game. He did foul him slightly before, trying to pull him back - but that was totally unconnected.

Look at this website. We don't all agree. It's not about all or nothing. There would be both, some fans admitting it was a dive (as I assume some palace fans will, maybe not those that come on here, but the reasonable ones) being embarrassed, asking how we can dare criticise Zaha after Knockaert dived like that; but there would also be fans pointing to Sterling's nudge, maybe accepting it wasn't enough for a pen, but definitely not a dive.

I am in mind of a Calderon booking for a dive in a match where there was contact from the keeper. I'm pretty sure I was making the 'there was contact, so it's not a dive' argument (not because I agreed with that standard, but that it was the standard that was widely applied at the time).

Wasn't arguing with you, I thought you, as you generally do, made a fair point.

Well there have been a couple of instances where refs saw it, gave penalties and players were charged.

Maybe with a player falling over a ‘trailing’ leg with no contact but with this one I just can’t see them acting.

Didn’t score from the penalty so did not get an advantage so no retrospective action but yes a complete and utter cheat.

They did get an advantage but they didn't make the most of it. Not sure there is anything that says that the penalty must be scored before they take another look at any simulation.

If he doesn't get a retro it'll show everything that stinks about football.

If I were palace I'd be more upset about paying Benteke a squillion pounds a week, than having Zaha drag our good name throu...   damn couldn't finish the sentence without laughing.

Not the real one
Zaha is just very good at going down in the area and looking for a penalty. He is cheating, but lots of players do it and yes some of ours do as well. But Zaha is a constant offender, I would love to see a retro ban but there is no chance with this one. I really really hope the VAR catches him diving at the Amex.
I am hoping Puncheon gets a retrospective ban for the outrageously dangerous tackle just after the penalty. Regardless of if he’s injured or not, it should be a 3 game ban.

If you watch the cheating, diving scum, he actually rides a proper chance of going down outside the box, and then, like a dying fairy, takes a dive in the box, the bloke is everything wrong about football.

I think it a shame that Brighton players diving is compared to Zaha’s regular efforts. Dyce was within his rights to bring up Izquierdo pathetic effort and he should have been booked (was he ?)
Zaha though is a habitual cheat and has been for years. Please don’t compare any of our players to that horrible, cheat.

As far as I can see the law only states that a player has successfully deceived a ref if they dive (or feign injury) and get an opposing player sent off or a penalty, it doesn’t make mention of the need to score the penalty for retrospective action to be taken.

Was Puncheon booked for the challenge that saw both him and De Bruyne carried off? He could face retrospective action for that challenge.

He was booked. But as of July 2013, if the referee wasn't in a position to fully assess a challenge, players could still face retrospective action, but that is a power the FA will only use sparingly.

He's a massive cheat and a massive prat.

Roy's comments to the media about him being a better prospect for a big move couldn't be more of a 'for sale' sign. I'm not much of a Kyle Walker fan but he looked class today against the "Olympian" paced cockwomble. Then you add in the ease he was muscled off the ball and his protests, the wayward passes and the tumbles. You then have the dive and the celebrations that followed the penalty decision.

Dropped a few billion off the value there today.

When Michael Owen says you've dived, I think you need to take your medicine.

Thanks, skimming through the Sky commentary they don’t mention Puncheon being booked, just Kelly for the second foul. As you say very rare that the retrospective action rule is used when a booking has already been made. I’d be surprised if they did to be honest, although he might be out for sometime due to his own foul anyway.

But more importantly, palace got a point against city, when we lost 2-0.

Worryingly, they seem to be putting some sort of consistency together
