Seriously you don’t UNDERSTAND?! After reading NSC day in day out? Surely you’ve picked up on the security issues at the last fixture,the reserves being played, the lack of goals, the lack of cash, the Monday night etc.
You might not agree with peoples non attendance reasoning. But they’re very understandable IMO!

Hopefully some kind od advantage would be given to fans who attended matches in the previous rounds.
No I don’t. We get nearly 30,000 against the likes of Stoke on a Monday night.
Security issues? Seriously? How many Brighton fans were hurt at the last game? Zero? Are people really that worried? Have we really got that many fans who have only been going a few years and are that concerned about ‘security issues’ against our rivals that they won’t go to the game?
Lack of goals? Really? Our fans won’t go to a game against our rivals because we haven’t scored enough goals recently? That really is a depressing thought, if the Amex crowd is genuinely like that. We have thousands upon thousands of ‘fans’ who don’t understand what supporting a football club is about, if that is the case.
Lack of cash? Yeah OK, but in the relatively recent days people would have prioritised Palace in the cup against Bournemouth or Watford jn the league.
All in all, it’s a sad state of affairs. They might as well just ditch the FA Cup, as it is clearly dead and buried anyway. What a shame that is.

Or they could have just tried holding this FA Cup Tie sometime - anytime! - over the course of FA Cup Tie weekend. Would have added 5,000 minimum to the gate.

In isolation some factors are easy to dismiss but it’s the collective picture isn’t it that people consider. Oh and by security I don’t mean fights between fans. I mean the zealous officiating (in classic horse has bolted fashion) that will cause enormous inconvenience. It’s got hassle written all over this fixture in short, That’s before you pay out to watch the reserves...which you could watch on the TV for a fraction of the cost. It’s not hard to understand. Come on Commander, you’re not stupid, you understand these factors might dissuade people from attending? Albeit you might not agree with...

No they couldn’t do that because it would be just too terrifying for poor Sussex police, they wouldn’t be able to cope with 2000 Nigels from Croydon rampaging their way through Sussex at the weekend. And having it on a Monday night will
mean that nobody would dare have more than two pints, as they’ve all got good jobs to go to in the morning.
Plus of course nobody that does work has any annual leave left in the first week in January to take two days off and drink all day, do they?...

2005 under Maghee. We were terrible. Palace miles above us in the League. The last time, we'd been hammered 5-0. I'd been kettled with my missus and 2 young lads, not a pleasant experience. But I went, because I'm a Brighton fan. If I hadn't I'd regret it to this day.
So, choose to find an excuse. Pretend you have something vital to do on a Monday night in early January. Pretend you can't find £25 down the back of the sofa. Pretend the FACup means nothing to you. Pretend the Park and Ride isn't running (it is). Pretend the rivalry means little to you.
But, FFS, don't pretend you are a Brighton fan.

I notice you skipped over the "reserves" which must be the main reason. For those of us who are not local putting in a heap of effort to watch two reserve sides is no turn-on. Now that clubs don't care about the Cup I can see why fans don't care too.

I've bought my ticket, but I must admit, I feel little real enthusiasm for the game. I might feel differently closer to the time, but for now, I really can't get excited about it. My reaction when the draw was made was to sigh (though in reality, I'm not sure what draw would have captured my imagination anyway- Premier League teams at home are no longer the attraction they would have been in any of my previous thirty odd seasons). My Dad- a regular since the 1960s was completely indifferent to it, and if I'd not said I was going, I don't think he'd have bothered.
It's a combination of the decline of the cup, the Monday night scheduling and the bollocks that surrounds this particular fixture. If Palace had been picked as the home side, they'd have faced exactly the same apathy from their fans. The only way this game would have sold out is if we hadn't played them for years, and weren't likely to, as opposed to having hosted them three weeks ago.
