shes thick as 2 short planks it can only have been positive discrimination that got her place

You'd have to be pretty "thick" to believe there was such a thing as positive discrimination in Oxbridge in the 1970s.

Just a thought, as snowflakes are white, is that offensive?

Bizarrely enough, over here they were, but not for a reason of colour.

Back in 2005, a ballet company that provided extra-curricular lessons in a school gave out Christmas cards to all the students via the teachers. A day later, the Principal asked that any cards that had not gone out be recalled immediately. The reason? One father complained as he thought that they weren't snowflakes depicted on the cards, but rather Stars of David, and the ballet company and school were thus promoting a pro-Israel agenda.

One can only assume that the parent in question hadn't actually seen a snowflake before and it was evidently a combination of misinterpretation and ignorance on display.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

Can someone tell how much longer we have to apologise for previous generations?

The joke should be seen on merit. It's not anyway racist, though the useless woman will undoubtedly attempt to make it so, but a joke about a person of easy ridicule. Not because of colour but because she's a idiot, whose stealing a wage from the taxman.

But an idiot who probably knows the difference between who's and whose.

He's not a racist misogynist though, oh no definitely not. Lets just be clear about this, just because Bushy believes a black woman could only get to Cambridge through positive discrimination it doesn't make him in any way prejudiced.

Too right, and it's about time pantomimes were looked at

Took the family to watch rock and roll Aladdin at the weekend.

A 6 foot plus "person of colour" dressed in middle eastern regal clothes. I could feel his pain.

And then a fella cruelly trying to represent an inappropriately dressed working class washer woman who'd already suffered enough through the loss of, ahem, her husband. Just wrong.

Fortunately the daughter could'nt see the awful indignity in all this and just enjoyed it. Phew.

I'm sorry but it's patently obvious that the target of this prank is Diane Abbott and not the black community.

Sorry, what's patently obvious is that Diane Abbott is the target precisely because she is black. There are plenty of other politicians of all genres that he could have chosen but he chose to the one that gave him the opportunity to 'black up'. Look at me, I look like a black person, isn't that funny......

I'd rather have Diane Abbots mistakes, getting confused over Police numbers, during an alleged hypoglycaemic episode, than ****wit Boris Johnsons mistake that gets a British woman five extra years in an Iranian jail.

But if he had dressed up as say Teresa may, what would ge the point of holding up a card with 190 on it?

Got to love whataboutery. How about we don't have either?

Just making the point that Abbots balls up was the result of a medical condition, (I'm type one diabetic myself, I know how confusing the most simple things can seem, when you're hypoglycaemic) Johnsons was the result of the man being a liability, but, who did the right wing press vilify most?

I wil agree neither fills me with any confidence, but, Abbot does seem less harmful than Johnson

Certainly, if you're a British woman in an Iranian jail cell.

Her race-baiting, her monumental hypocrisy and her political cowardice weren't a result of any medical condition though. She's a terrible politician. So is Boris. We're better off without both.

FEMALE MPs have been subjected to 25,000 abusive messages in the last six months, with Diane Abbott being the target of more than half of them, Amnesty International revealed.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/850044/Diane-Abbott-female-MPs-Twitter-abuse-trolls

Why does she attract so much online vilification?

The Labour MP told Amnesty: “My office got flooded with communications, both by letter and by email. People sent us emails and letters full of swastikas, people sent us postcards and letters with pictures of monkeys and chimps. People sent us hundreds of emails using the word n***** - that’s the sort of response we get. It’s highly racialised and it’s also gendered because people talk about rape and they talk about my physical appearance in a way they wouldn’t talk about a man.

Perhaps this context helps explain why this whole area is highly charged?

Would she get the same level of abuse if she was male?
Would she get the same level of abuse if she was white?

I don't know the answers but I suspect the answer is probably no in both cases

And, tangentially linked, Jo Cox got murdered by a right wing nutter

As they used to say in the 60s, if you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem

If, like the darts punter, you're actively normalising abuse of a woman who gets more abuse that pretty much everyone else in Westminster then that shows, at the very least, very poor judgement

To appease many on here, he could have dressed up as Farage with a pledge of £350 million to the NHS pinned to his Savile Row suit.

What a load of liberal twits there are on here at times, get a feckin grip people. :xmas:
