Hudds forum not a happy place..........half the posts seem to be worrying about whether they'll make the playoffs, let alone the autos.
That's an exaggeration. We were poor yesterday, and we are now resigned to the playoffs. The autos were always a stretch, feared more by BHA than they were expected by Hudds.

Although we were poor, the ref was another complete joker, bullied by Burton, and yet again we were denied another clear pen. Burton turned up to defend and frustrate, and succeeded. It was probably the most cynical anti-football display ever witnessed at the John Smith's. That having been said, Hudds lacked the guile to break them down, so deserved little more than to lose at the end of the day. :(

If I was a town fan, I'd be worried about facing Fulham over two legs. Could you see Wagner manoeuvring the team to avoid Fulham. I ask that as they've already tonked you 5-0 this season?

Yeah, we fear Fulham for sure, and still have to play them at home. They are are decent side, but inconsistent. I don't think Wagner will aim for any position, if that was even possible, but just try to build confidence and keep us on our game. This season has shown that we have more to fear from referees than other teams, as a general rule.

Here we go, 'refs are against us'.

There are quite a few posts expressing nervousness about making the playoffs. Think you're nailed on to finish in the top 6 myself (and done brilliantly to be where you are) but a few key injuries (like you're now getting), and busting a gut for the autos (like we did last year) leaves you potentially vulnerable against those teams that turn up for the playoffs well rested. Happened to one team last season [emoji20]

must be the refs fault that Huddersfield have scored about twelve goals all season

so what do you do if you're Wagner? Keep pushing for auto possibility but wear out your players for play offs if it doesn't come off (it won't), or now start resting players for the play offs and run risk of falling some places?

Keep pushing for autos clearly, as Brighton will fall away at the end of the season as usual.

Our points haulage at the tail end of the last season was positively atrocious.

Hard to believe really having SMASHED FFP with ridiculous spending and losses.

We have a few decent forwards, but we are lacking a prolific striker. We bought in Quaner, again from Germany, but he is yet to score in the league. The failure to turn dominance into goals is our problem this season, for sure, but we have stayed on the right side of FFP.

We should have had at least 12 pens by now, but we just don't get them. There was another example of a clear cut penalty yesterday, which the ref waived away. Earlier in the season I wanted to believe 'that things would balance themselves out', as they say, but the situation just gets worse. The two pens we have actually been given were both soft, given by refs making amends for other decisions, and we missed one. I don't think refs feel any pressure to give us penalties given that no one expected us to be where we are, so not awarding little Hudds a pen is no big controversy. :nono:

We kept being told it would even itself out over the season last year.

I thought I would watch the highlights given the wailing about the most stonewall penalty ever and I think I must have watched the wrong highlights. Definitely seen them given but not sure the contact warranted the fall. Stupid to put hands on at all but hardly stonewall.

And I would suggest that maybe Whitehead was lucky to last as long as he did.
