New Brexit Doctor Who to only travel backwards in time

After Peter Capaldi announced his intention to quit Doctor Who, the BBC have revealed plans to make the character more in fitting with Brexit Britain.

According to reports, the new Doctor will only travel backwards in time, defend men who boast about sexual assault and seek to punish people who are in most need of help.

“Audience surveys indicate that the public want Doctor Who to be a complete shit-gargling piss wizard,” confirmed a BBC spokesperson.

“The new Doctor will be the sort of Time Lord who won’t hesitate to gamble with people’s futures or shy away from running away when it all goes tits up.”

The spokesperson also revealed that as well as the return of old favourites such as white supremacist robot dog KKK9, a host of new monsters are being developed for the show.

“We’re confident that terrifying characters such as Muslimatrons, Immigroids and Women will have viewers diving behind their sofas.”

Would it have happened without Brexit?

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/.../Npower-hike-prices-9-8-energy-customers.html

Mostly currency again I'm afraid

No

Npower last hiked prices three years ago. It says since then there have been increases in wholesale energy costs plus a rise to the amount energy firms pay to Government energy policies, such as smart metering, renewables obligation and the capacity market.

Basically if you want green you have to pay for it.

Well, I suppose that is slightly funnier than people prophesying imminent financial meltdown and then shifting the date back every time it doesn't happen as they predicted!
I don't know though......perhaps on second thoughts maybe it isn't as funny........

thats an odd claim, because even NPower havent used that as an excuse. they cite wholesale costs and "cost of delivering Government policies, such as smart metering, renewables obligation and the capacity market". wholesale prices have been rising since around April 2016. so the answer is yes, it would have happened without Brexit.

A boost to financial markets since Donald Trump's election has helped the UK economy, a central banker has said.

Ben Broadbent, the deputy governor for monetary policy at the Bank of England, told the BBC that some of Mr Trump's economic plans could help the UK.

Mr Trump has promised to cut taxes and boost US infrastructure spending, but also erect trade barriers.

Global markets were boosted by the so-called "Trump effect" after investors bet on Mr Trump's policies of infrastructure spending and lower corporate taxation coming to fruition and boosting the US economy.

That economic plan would probably help global growth, Mr Broadbent said.

The US Dow Jones share index broke through the 20,000 point barrier in late January for the first time ever as investor confidence built.

It's looking good folks! :)

So do you remainers all know exactly where we won't be able to live, work or travel? Do you even have the slightest idea if that will change at all? Or is that the same kind of knowing that there would be a huge financial meltdown? We worked and travelled freely before 1973, you know.

The ability to live and work wherever you want in the EU is central to any definition of freedom of movement and the impression I got from every Brexit person on here is that they wanted an end to freedom of movement. Perhaps you're an exception and feel we can retain freedom of movement.

But to practicalities. Do I have even the slightest idea if that will change at all? Well listening to government ministers from May down saying that freedom of movement will end, and enduring the endless arf-arf-arf jeers of NSC Brexiters that freedom of movement is as good as dead, well, yes, I did gain the slight impression that it might.

You seem to be saying that we had the same freedoms before we joined the European community. I disagree.

You mention the economy. I didn't know that there would be a meltdown and you wouldn't have found me on here saying there would be. Like people of all persuasions I assumed there would be immediate problems because that was what we were told. Will there be long term problems and greater poverty? I think there will be but I don't go on about it because much of my knowledge, as before, is second-hand. Anyway, as you said, much of the argument isn't about the economy anyway. I've no wish to be poorer but the basis of my pro-remain views have nothing to do with money. I am pleased to hear that the basis of your pro-Leave views also have nothing to do with money either.

Freedom of movement, Different perceptions of what that means. Before we joined the EEC, we could travel freely. Sure, there were customs checks, and they'd want to know what you were up to - and if they weren't satisfied they could stop you entering. In other words, each country had control of its borders. But if you booked a holiday, or got a job in Europe (western Europe anyway - the Eastern bloc was obviously a different kettle of fish) there wasn't a problem. 18-22 holidays in Spain were available, and Brits went to live in Spain. There just wasn't as much international travel back then.
What we didn't have then was the right to swan into any country, with or without means of subsistence and without any checks, that's all. But in reality, for most people most of the time, travelling and working abroad was no problem.

With respect, you just performed a sleight of hand. A poster raised the issue of the right to work and live where you want in the EU - Freedom of Movement as it is always defined. He regretted the fact that the right would be lost.

You then rattled in to the conversation, putting-down the poster and declaring in an irritated manner that no one knows if freedoms will be stopped, suggesting that it was just Remainers pretending again that they knew something they didn't.

When I queried this you then said that you weren't actually talking about Freedom of Movement, you were talking about freedom to go on holiday. I think we can all agree that we will be able to go on holiday after we leave the EU, just as we were before we joined. But that wasn't what anyone was talking about.

just get a work permit, what's the issue???

DR

Not my words, but I suppose the issue for some of us is this.

“We hope to reach again a Europe united but purged of the slavery of ancient, classical times - a Europe in which men will be proud to say, ‘I am a European’. We hope to see a Europe where men of every country will think as much of being a European as of belonging to their native land, and that without losing any part of their love and loyalty to their birthplace. We hope that wherever they go in this wide domain, to which we set no limits in the European continent, they will truly feel ‘Here I am at home. I am a citizen of this country too.’”

Gas & Elec are commodities and are priced in USD. Unless you eat cold turnip soup and live in a cave life is getting more expensive

though let's be honest, that is all "movement" means to the majority of people in this country. we simply arent moving to EU en masse and have little desire to. when we do leave this country, we head for anglophone countries first, i beleive there are over twice as many expats in each of Australia, US and Canada than in the entire EU. and this is the heart of the problem with EU, we've never been really that bothered by the benefits, they are marginal for most people.

Why, in your opinion, do more Brits not move to Europe though? Why is there such a lack of desire?
