I suspect we can and I would imagine the EU would be happy to have such a deal.

My concerns would be that the main area of UK exports (services, especially financial services) is predominantly excluded from CETA, as is food and agriculture.

Canada's main exports are natural resources such as gold, and these are not particularly impacted by WTO tariffs, which are the default alternative to a FTA.

Isn't a lot of financial services covered by MIFID 2 ?

CETA does not involve Canada paying into the EU budget or signing up to EU rules on the free movement of people in return for increased market access.
.
Obviously in our case it would be 'in return for decreased market access'. There is only one way to achieve access as good as we have now.

I thought that covered products rather than being a FTA, but am not an expert on the area.

I do however know quite a lot about MILF 121, a very fine audio-visual activity, which also relates to the service industry, but I suspect is unregulated by EU law.

NHS has the right to bill the home country, it just doesn't bother to do it very often. Many Brits opt to not wait for NHS appointments and go to other EU countries for treatment, the NHS is then billed by that countries health care system, or the patient can reclaim payments from NHS.
There are cases of foreign nationals impersonating UK residents, but these are mostly from the commonwealth and often do it with the assistance of a doctor willing to take a bung, for stating he has checked the patients credentials. That won't go away.

The cost of maternity services notwithstanding, people only really start to cost a national health service money when they get old.

The Times reports today on a hearing of the Public Accounts Committee last week. There are apparently 109 thousand British pensioners living in Spain. The chap from the Department of Health was asked how many Spanish pensioners were living in the UK. "62," he said.

"What, 62 thousand?" "No, 62. Sixty two." That could be an under-estimate, but even so, it makes British fury seem a bit trivial.

May now wants a red white and blue Brexit now, not a Brexit means Brexit Brexit.

She is a vacume that spouts nonsense soundbytes that do not work. She has had 6 months to work out what Brexit means and still relies on ridiculous rubbish like this.

As if the prospect of exiting the EU isn't going to be tough enough, the fact that an intellectual amoeba, supported by a team of Brexit clowns, is at the helm doesn't bear thinking about.

In fairness any PM whose task is to surgically and methodically weaken the economic prospects of the UK is of course doomed to failure, even in success. She can't win so might as well bring down said clowns with her.

With the bunch of useless fools we have in charge of negotiating a deal, I think it might actually work out ok.

Cameron's "concessions" deal is going to look Churchilian in comparison.

It's now got a colour code.

Red white and Blue Brexit = Brexit Means Brexit
Grey Brexit = Canadian type deal
Black Brexit = Hard Brexit
White Brexit = Soft Brexit

To be fair to May she may still mean that Brexit means Brexit means red, white and blue Brexit means red, white and blue Brexit means Brexit.

I actually thinks it makes sense now, I'm glad she has cleared up the confusion.

Shock horror, people who don't like the result of the vote to leave and don't like the Tories, are unhappy with leaving and the Tories.

May has kowtowed to the might of Corbyn and announced that she will announce the Government's plans over Brexit.

Must be Corbyn 100 May Nil at the moment.

May is a weak leader.

I have no idea. You clearly don't either as in your previous post you stated 'May now wants a red white and blue Brexit now, not a Brexit means Brexit Brexit.'

Hopefully her plan will demonstrate the diligent work that has been put in by the Tories to deliver the Best Brexit for Britain, that is a red blue and white Brexit that means Brexit.

Are you actually going to comment on anything political other than you don't like May? There are only so many ways you can say that.

I cant stress how good this makes me feel....first Brexit then Trump, and now the ities giving it the thumbs down to the EU.

When will the EU finally learn that people are fed up of being dictated to by a bunch of self serving unelected Muppet's.

Peace and harmony throughout Europe all under the banner of the EU .
