Just this.....and we have main roads in West Sussex, big ones with more than one carriageway
Ah, yes - what it must be to be proud of more concrete or tarmac - in practice the M23 merely allows you views of the finest aspects of Crawley and Gatwick while leaving the County at speed - or the A27 between Worthing and Chichester, mostly just one big car park. But never mind you can divert via the A259 to those asthetic hotspots of Littlehampton and Bognor...
At least the rather sedate single carriageway roads around East Sussex allow one a more leisurely view of the (mostly) wonderful scenery.
I can claim a foot in both camps: 18 years in West and 30+ in East and have a soft spot for both Counties - but for me there is only one winner: East Sussex has so much more going for it: culture, diversity, coastline, countryside, architecture, history, literature and sport.
However I can also rise above the semantics and more importantly and proudly be a man of SUSSEX!
