Prices to remain static
Smallest storage size to increase to 32GB for same cost
256GB model at the top end
The iPhone cost rarely varies from year to year, and price rumors from Weibo suggest just that.

That means the iPhone 7 price will be around US$649 (£539, AU$1079), but here's the good news: for that money you'll apparently get 32GB of storage rather than 16GB.

At the top end it will be more expensive than the US$849 / £699 / AU$1379 iPhone 6S 128GB, but you'll apparently get 256GB of storage.

There's some confusion over whether there will be a 64GB or 128GB 'middle option': a leak from WeChat, spotted by BGR, agree on the prices for all three sizes, with the middle choice coming in at 6088 yuan, which is the same price as the mid-sized (64GB) iPhone 6S in China, around £619 / US$749 / AU$1229.

The sources can't agree on is whether you'll get 64GB of storage or 128GB for that money - 32GB, 64GB and 128GB options seem the most likely.

I was right, unfortunately. With the US price remaining the same, this must be due to Sterling devaluation, presumably:

"We have the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus prices through. Starting at £599 for the 32GB iPhone 7, it is £60 more expensive than the 16GB iPhone 6s. "

Apple watch series 2, £269 as opposed to $269. I hadn't realised the pound had gone one for one with the dollar!

I'll pass thanks.

The iPhone 7 will cost £599 for 32GB, £699 for 128GB and £799 for 256GB.

The iPhone 7 Plus price is £719 for 32GB, £819 for 128GB and £919 for 256GB.

The 'iPhone Upgrade Programme' is available at UK Apple Stores with monthly payments starting at £33.

The new Apple-designed wireless AirPods including charging case will be available for £159 from late October.

I am still pondering changing my Motorola G second generation for a third generation one as their price has dropped through the floor since they have introduced a 4G model. Perfectly happy with my Motorola G, had it well over 2 years and it meets my benchmark of "it does all I want it do". The younger Pottings, with their fancy iPhone SE's, pour scorn on daddy's "antique" smart phone but I point out that mine cost less than half what theirs did (and I recall I paid for them anyway) and I have little interest in apps that change your photo so you look like Droopy the cartoon dog.

Am I abnormal not really getting aroused by a new iPhone?

$849 (£653) for a 128gb 7plus is nowhere near £819 charged in the UK. Apple are usually clever in their prices world wide but a saving of £160 or so for a phone is pretty imbalanced.

Apple, however, suggests there are advantages to using its Airpods, which will cost $159 (£119). It demonstrated that the wireless headphones could be paired with the phone much more quickly than is normally the case with Bluetooth sets.

My Bluetooth headphones take about 3 seconds to pair with my Android phone.

The Airpods also contain infrared sensors to detect when they are in the user's ears. This allows them to automatically stop music when they are taken out.

I have a button on the side of one of my bluetooth earphones that I press to stop music. OK, it makes me look like David Coleman, but...

Apple said the Airpods would last "up to five hours" on a charge

General consensus is you can take about a third to a half (at least) off of how long Apple say a charge will last.
£120 for some shonky bluetooth earphones then. That is just SO Apple :lolol:

Apple seem to have zero innovation these days....

A waterproof phone with a bigger battery and improved camera. (So bringing it inline with s7 edge then) And the game changer .... Wait for it...... No headphone socket.

Dire.

Out of interest, when you remark about the quality of the Android handset, what make was it?

I have used Sony Xperia for some time and found them to outperform the iPhone in almost every way.

100% this. Can't be arsed to read through 10 pages of Apple ******* but have had Sony Xperia Z and now Z3 as my last two phones and they destroy iPhone for what I want. Camera is 3 times as good, better storage, better battery life, waterproof (and that was from a phone I bought 3 years ago and apple are only just catching up) and better apps that are not held at the corporate dictatorship of Apple.

Apple raised the bar with the iPhone and for a few years it really was amazing but for me the likes of Sony and Samsung blow them out of the water. iPhones are not bad but when it comes to value for money I think they are just an image over substance brand.
