[Albion] Tony Bloom lumps yet another £8m on his Albion Premier League dream

I've been trying to think of a reply but couldn't really work out the language needed.

The best I could come up with is:-

'Nobody congratulates me for paying off my credit card'.

The 'Tony is carrying all the debt, we should be grateful' line is a little tough.
After all it is his debt, he decided his debt, nobody asked or more importantly forced him to under take such a level of debt.

Now I know this is churlish, I genuinely love the AMEX, but I don't like the way the debt Mr Bloom has allowed himself to undertake then gets used as the excuse for anything and everything that is deemed to be an error from the club.

In this case it's something huge like deflecting away from not spending x millions on a sub-par striker, something for which it's hard to not say 'fair enough'.
But it's the exact same point right the way down to something piddling like tea and coffee.

You've misinterpreted my post, that's my point. I'm fed up with barber bleating that his boss is £1.5m a month down. Bolllocks is he, his company might be, however guess what? You actually need to be minted to own a football club.

Why is BG the only one getting slated for saying we needed a striker? The board has been full of posters saying the same all day yet BG gets the stick after the window closes some of you should be ashamed.

I don't know where you get that nonsense from.

TB has stuck his own money into the club, not that of a company. The loans are personal in nature, as is his shareholding.

As for saying the ground and stadium will increase in value, that's complete bollocks. The Amex and Lancing are single purpose properties, they are not the same as domestic homes where demand exceeds supply and drives up prices.

I believe the land is also leased from the Council so cannot be sold for any other purpose? I always assumed that was the whole point bearing in mind our previous experience.

Won't we just get the money in January. Does anyone really think we are going to run his contract down to nothing?

No. If Stephens is sold in January it will be for significantly less than his market value.

QPR did the same thing with Charlie Austin last summer. Kept him in August when his contract was up iat the end of the season in the hopes of a promotion season.

As they were midtable they sold him to Southampton for 4m, when they'd turned down 12m in August.

If Stephens is sold in January, it will be for about 3 million IMO.

Surely, if that's what he's going to be sold for, that's his market value?

I'm a bit bemused by the various people saying that we should have got a striker - what should the club do? It's not like going to a supermarket for a pint of milk. If the club was keeping its hands in its pockets, that would be a different matter but we know they tried to buy some. If a club won't sell or a player doesn't want to come here, what should we do? Kidnap him?

There seems to be attitude of getting someone in for the sake of it - which is why we ended up with the likes of Painter and Obika in previous seasons. I'd rather have no-one than a complete waste of space

I think they've gone wrong somewhere in the striker business, but aside from that no-one can have any grumbles.
Hughton and the team would have put together a list of targets, and I'm sure the club worked hard to get them. It just couldn't be done. I'm not happy about it, but I don't blame the club in any way.

Not the same at all. He stated that he would not go anywhere in the January window just after he put two goals past us to get a draw. Southampton came in, QPR were a basket case and he was off. *******!

QPR wanted to get some money out of him because he would have walked for nothing in the summer.

He didn't have to go to Southampton, but the move obviously suited him as he wanted to stay in the South and play in the Premier League.

It made sense to both Austin and QPR to let him go.

We'd have all liked a striker but DS, LD, AK and no striker will do me, yet more top work TB

Except that Stephens handed in a transfer request then left training early, and Kaz on Twitter says he's disappointed with the window. Hughton has a job to do now.

LuaLua hasn't mentioned the window. You are assuming his word disappointed was about the window.

People need to realise this is a very well run club and we should never break the bank or take a gamble on getting to the prem....You could spend £100 million and fail and you'll end up having a dressing room full of egos and seriously overpaid players. The pressure is on the big spenders and they certainly won't find it easy when the tough gets going.

We have some fantastic players and a great manager and we'll be up there for sure :)

Great post & good to see posits words from you.
