Why are you so willing to dismiss mainstream scientific opinion and post a niche blog as evidence that you are right?

Steven Strong, a former teacher with an interest in archaeology, has become a prolific writer on the subject of Aboriginal Australians, and has put forward a theory that humans arose not in Africa but Australia. He cites a mixture of scientific and pseudo-scientific papers (including some from Advances in Anthropology) in support of his argument but the scientific papers he cites often state the opposite of what he proposes. His articles seem to be designed to promote sales of his pseudoscientific books. It appears that his "groundbreaking" new theory of human civilisation is that not only did humans originate in Australia but that we are all "children of beings from the stars"

Steven Strong refers to studies by Anatole Klysov:

The Into Africa hypothesis has been proposed by Anatole Klyosov, a chemist from Russia who is now living in America. He writes prolifically on the subject of what he calls “DNA genealogy”. His research is almost all self-published. Klyosov is the editor of Advances in Anthropology published by the questionable open access publisher Scientific Research Publishing. None of the members of the journal's editorial board has a background in population genetics. Klyosov has published two articles in this journal (2012 and 2014) supposedly refuting the Out of Africa hypothesis and proposing his alternative Into Africa theory. But these papers focus on a questionable analysis of Y-DNA and mtDNA which are of limited value for inferences about human origins. (Y-DNA and mtDNA tests can, however, be used legitimately for genealogical purposes.)

In January 2015, a group of leading Russian academics published a letter in the popular science magazine Troitskii Variant denouncing Anatole Klyosov’s “DNA demagoguery”.

So with a total of 27 gold medals, are they all going to get honours ? To be fair, by the time they're awarded (new year), I'll have forgotten who they are anyway !

Perhaps offers a discussion point on where his place in athletic history should be ??

perhaps it says something about him not having the sort of ego where he needs to chase after records. In both the 5,000 and 10,000 races in Rio he never seemed to be seriously threatened. If someone came close in the final stages, he left them for dead with little problem

You are allowed to be subjective even if someone is black you know !!

To think he didnt want to win by a greater margin is bizarre or smash the world record is silly, this wasnt a heat where conserving energy is necessary, even with the circumstance of the race if he could have run world record times then I am sure he would of.

The point remains his achievements have been brilliant at this and previous Olympics, but perhaps there is a reasonable discussion (not with me) some time about whether he is the best runner at those distances, if he doesnt hold records then he might not be in pole position when that takes place.

I wasn't intentionally making any comments which relied on or were affected by the colour of Mr Farah's skin.

I take your point, though, about the world record thing and "greatness".

A bulldog with a unpleasantly tasting bone. Give it up, you're wrong, just admit it and move on.
 Im not wrong at all , and you know it , your argument reminds me of the emperors new clothes , in my first post i said i had no problem with him or other people identifying him as british, but the very fact that people on here , whether joking or not still refer to the royal family as german proves my point, all you and others are doing is fooling yourself so you can feel all warm and fuzzy about how inclusive and tolerant you are, he was born and spent a large part of his childhood abroad, his mother and all his grandparents are somali, your argument that he is 'as british as the rest of us is 'preposterous'

You are. I can't be f<cked to argue with a bigot any more as it's a lovely day out there. Mo has more British values than you, so maybe time to read the http://www.doingsmsc.org.uk/british-values/ site. He's the leading British athlete for all children to aspire to, whereas you're a sad lonely man with bygone thoughts. Have a word with yourself. I'm out of the conversation.

Or any teetotaller, or vegetarian......
Well obviously teetotallers or vegetarians can't be British. Stands to reason. I mean how can they drink our ale and eat the roast beef eh? eh? Send 'em all back to Vegeterania and, er, Teetotolia that's what I say.

leave off US , half the time world records are broken under very artificial conditions , with special pacemakers etc ,consistently winning races is what matters.

Hmmmmm not too sure about that, the same might be said for winning races, depending on other runners cycle of form even quality of runners of an era, perhaps injury, tactical errors etc. WR's are indisputable arent they ??

This isnt about devaluing Mo's achievements, but be interesting see how discussions might pan out in say 10 years times, when discussing 'best ever' 5000m and 10 000m.

TBH I had always though Farah held the records anyway.

Yep.

Anyway, Mo does have a WR, as someone has already said. In addition, he holds the British and European record at 1500m (thus faster than Coe, Ovett and Cram at one of their specialist distances), as well as British records at 3000m, 2 miles, 5000m and 10,000m, and European records at 2 miles, 10,000m, 10k road, 15k road, 20k road, and the half marathon.

Mo currently holds national and continental records at distances ranging from 1500m to the half marathon. The guy is extremely quick, as well as having the race craft to be a double double Olympic champion. Simply incredible.

You didn't answer my earlier question. What would make Mo be as british as you in your eyes? What's the most important factor here?

- Where he was born?
- Where he grew up?
- When he moved here? 8,10,13?
- When he started living like an englishman?
- Where his grandparents are from?

To me, if a person identifies with this country, is legally British and proud to wrap that flag around them, they're as British as you and I will ever be. It's not up to ME to say how British someone is. It's up to them. It's their life.
