I'm under 30 and within a couple of years I'll be able to afford to buy this house in Burnley, I could walk to Turf Moor for football and be in Manchester (where I have the choice of having my legs broken or shot) or Liverpool city centre (and be pick-pocketed) within an hour. The same money would buy this flat in Brighton.

I know where I'd rather live.

EFA.

We know where you would rather live....but we simply don't want you here.

Nothing to do with bragging about earnings. Just pointing out what someone my age can get in this northern shithole and what the same money would buy in your southern paradise. I'm tellingyou I wouldn't swap.
I can see many southerners moving north or to where prices are fair cheaper...The only place near reading which is close to work here but about £80,000+ Cheaper to buy is Swindon and that's something I'll look into.

I'd say northerners are far happier and far more relaxed as its just to hammer and tong down these parts.

I say well done to Burnley as they did the business and considering the catchment area and size of the club(attendances)it's a great achievement.
No bitterness from me and certainly not goner slate Burnley as a town as this country has many good and bad towns and cities.
Can I point out that I'm not bitter. Like I said before: despite playing for nothing, Burnley did us a huge favour 2 years ago and made for the funniest pitch invasion ever.

I just find the sudden influx of gloating Burnley fans quite odd.

Who gives a shit what Burnley is like to live in, they are up we're not and anyway I'm not so sure that half our support lives in Brighton anyway!
I'd suspect many thousands don't and most of the no shows are the ones who wouldn't dream of travelling to Brighton for midweek games and who could blame them.

I have an image of the OP stamping his feet and squawking to his mother.....'why can't I have sweets like the other boy!'.

That's because of the late equaliser and joey Barton to be fair....Any normal Albion fan wouldn't have any issues with Burnley as they're a very good football club that is run very very well.
When we get bitter fans that just encourages Burnley fans to gloat and rightly so....We would do the same I'm sure :)

Why Burnley? The more I think about it the more depressed I feel.

I mean a glum northern town with no prospects and not a lot of fans, David bloody Fishwick, dilapidated ground and a place no one in their right mind would want to go to.

Football gods, you have a strange way of dealing the cards!

That is all

Why would nobody in their right mind want to live in Burnley ?

'I mean a glum northern town with no prospects..'- It's actually one of the fastest growing local economies in the UK backed by a large and recent investment in infrastructure work.

It's also rich in working class history and full of excellent post industrial revolution architecture. Splendid place to visit.

There are large parks and a very competitive sports scene. Music- Never heard of the Burnley Rhythm and Blues Festival ?

The one thing that bugs me on forums like this is disparaging remarks people make about places they are unlikely to have visited- or if they did were clearly unable to appreciate due to drunkeness, ignorance, stupidity or all three.

Threads like this are embarrassing.

Having defended your town, Imploding Turtle ClaretMatt 8th battalion East Lancs -do tell me what that Singing Ringing Tree is all about. I just don't get it.

Having lived in the north and the south, I'd say the exact opposite.
I love living by the sea, and missed it very much when up north.
