Hey, don't be down. If you don't win then just invent some hair-brained system that involves adding up all the times you got beaten by a side who did go on to win it (excluding Newcastle, Villa, Arsenal, PNE, Corinthians and Royal Engineers) to prove that you are the most successful cup side EVER.

And then come onto your rival's forum and boast about that. Honestly, you won't look like a sad sack.

Que?

To be fair to Palace, if we can use a crippling injury list as mitigation then so can they.

I would say that injuries have cost the two clubs ten points each.

The loss of ten points has cost Palace an upper-mid-table finish. It might yet cost us promotion.

No I think you'll be playing at Selhurst next season in the top division, 35 years after the last time.

We had 2 Palace fans with us for the Fulham game and they were gobsmacked at how good we were, quoting that we would beat Palace quite easily the way we played that night. Also commented that out stadium and atmosphere was amazing, and they could not believe how good Bruno is. After the game they were talking about Palace and they confirmed that they over achieved early doors, but not as bad now as some think and not getting the breaks. Interesting enough they thought that Cabeye is just taking his salary now and putting no effort in. They all think that the Adeybeyor signing was one of desperation and the jury is out on Pardew, but a Wembley final date and all will be rosy. His last comment was he was worried that will overtake them as they have been concentrating on the playing side and forgetting the other important things in football like infrastructure. etc. and shock horror they were nice guys.

To be fair, I don't mind if they do. I want to concentrate on us to be fair and happy for their fans if they win it, as apart from some of the sad ones that spend their life on here, trying to justify their existence as they don't seem to have a life, most Palace fans I know and meet are in the main great guys and just love their team, so happy if they win the cup and I know if we go up I will get a few texts from Palace fans wishing us luck, as supporting a different team for normal people is not actually a crime?

Totally agree with you.

The vast majority of Palace supporters are just the same as us...it,s the sad f**ks from their club that spend their life on here that don't represent their club or fans at all.

You're the bloke who described Palace as "undoubtedly a top ten Premier League side". No offence but your opinions are shit.

Our first XI is really, really, good. Top 8 good. I don't think anyone could have predicted how badly we'd suffer from injuries this season. In the first half of the year we had a fully fit side and were playing some fantastic stuff. At Christmas we were joint 4th and thoroughly deserved to be there because our team was bloody brilliant. Unfortunately, in the second half of the season we lost Bolasie, Cabaye, Wickham, Mcarthur, Puncheon, Chamakh, Gayle, etc. for months. This revealed the fact that our reserves were nowhere near as good as our first choice side. That, combined with some very bad luck and awful refereeing decisions, led to us plummetting down the table. Notice that as soon as our key players started playing together again, we went unbeaten in 4 against West Ham, Arsenal, Everton and... err... Norwich.

Put simply, numerous horrific injuries to our most crucial players have totally buggered our season.

Hughton is a good, honourable man.

One aspect of promotion to the Premier League that makes me slightly uncomfortable is how some of our players won't be able to step up. You see it at many clubs, and I guess it's just part of football evolution. Those who gave their all to help propel a club to the dizzying heights of the Premier League are replaced by others deemed more up to the task.

Should we make that jump up, I hope that as a club and fans we remain dignified towards those players.

No argument re. Hughton. A genuinely cracking bloke.

As for the step up to the Premier League, I think you could be pleasantly surprised if you're lucky enough to get promoted. Nobody at Palace would've known that Damien Delaney would adapt to PL football and keep Diego Costa in his pocket at Stamford Bridge. You never quite know how things will work out.

That and having an utter shyster as a manager. Or did you write that bit in invisible ink and I missed it?

Alan is clearly a knob but he's one of our own, so what can you do? For what it's worth, he has done a very good job so far. I don't think Guardiola could've stolen a win with some of the teams we were forced to play in February, and when we've got our best players on the pitch we can compete with anyone.

Chamakh? Wickham? :)

In the first couple of seasons for us (pre injury) Chamakh was really good. We moved him behind the striker and he did very well there. He was an extremely hard worker and was clearly a level above everyone else in terms of his footballing brain until we signed Cabaye.

Wickham has struggled a bit with injury so far, but whenever he plays he looks good. He's managed 5 goals and 3 assists in 13 starts since we bought him. A definite upgrade on Murray and he's only just turned 23.

Kept us up with ease in his first season, joint 4th at Christmas this season until half of our squad topped themselves. He's got one of the highest win percentages of any Palace manager ever, and he's achieved that while we've been in the Premier League. He has made mistakes in the last few months but before that he was superb.

I'd give up now if I were you. Your posts are embarrassing to the point where I almost* feel sorry for you. I bet you've got a science degree.

*I don't

Neither do I, I didn't even go to University other than many years in the University of Life. Which is why I think so much of what is posted on NSC is very sad. Football is just a game after all as REMF tries to prove.

With respect Wickham is not a patch on Muzza. Muzza has a brain and leadership qualities. Why the idiots in Bournemouth are leaving him out baffles me.

But we didn't though did we you utter Cheddar Helmet.

Not officially no. But as your own people on NSC have let slip, some debts were paid at considerably less than 100% (apparently). If so that must have been an unofficial arrangement, a bit like what has happened to another famous Brighton institution over the last few years, repeatedly in their case..I bet you're Proud of that.

All debts were settled in full when the goldstone was sold.
