Woke up this morning to the joys of Spring. Woke up throughout the night to the joys of Spring, as well. F****** birch pollen hay fever. Never had it till hitting 50 and now had it over 6 years for 2-3 weeks mid to late April. Doesn't stop any running but makes it uncomfortable to run or rest for that matter. So home made manuka honey remedies to be taken and a thorough spring cleaning of the house is in order. She'll be pleased.
Will have a little run out and stretch nearer lunchtime. Brilliant low tides at the moment.

Really need to get my mojo back - I'm going out just for the hell of it but plodding along slowly and not getting the buzz I used to :(

We're just entering the season where you can hide being a perv by going out in the guise of a sweaty runner. Excellent motivation.

Now entering maximum Maranoia. Every ache is a run-ending injury. Every sneeze is the flu. My garmin is on charge whenever it's not on my wrist and I'm having dreams at night about not being able to enter because I didn't print my email clearly enough. Could really use a magic wand to get rid of the next few days and just make it Sunday.

I'm looking to all the food I'm going to eat starting from tomorrow[emoji23]

Bit of a shame because this has been the first time I could feel my abs under fatty flesh in 15 years and that's all about to be laid to waste.

I'm taking the phone to show the email but only 10 mins away. Maybe worth you printing it. I'm going at opening time Friday if you want me to tell you.

Me too. Hopefully see you there. Also got to pick up Junior's mini mile number and my REMF vest from Brett.

Cheers I'm going straight after the school run on Friday. So I'm gonna try and print it off beforehand.
Great save though Guinness Boy

if anyone's getting the train on Sunday be aware that SASTA have closed Preston Park station till 11am under police advice "due to safety reasons". They are running extra trains - but only to Brighton

Very natural feelings and emotions. Don't let it consume too much it's counter-productive as I found out in 2014 when I ran sub 4 but should have run better.

I feel I peaked mid March after the half and the last six weeks haven't been as productive as I would have liked.

I ran 18 miles 6 weeks ago and since then only one run of 16.5 & one of 15.5 so feel I haven't done sufficient mileage as very few weeks I'm covering above the recommended 26.

My groin and left hamstring is pretty tight and that's a worry, but hopefully it will all come together on the day. I suppose the nerves are in part that the marathon is a very unique event in that you don't run up to or past the distance like other races, so you always have that nagging doubt.

Will be good to meet up before the race in Preston Park.

You could always ask Zoe Ball for a lift. You must be on nodding acquaintances the amount of times you've spent running alongside Millionaire's Row this last 12 months.

Completely normal - but try to relax, you have done all the hard work, and you really would be very unlucky to get anything to stop you running in the next few days. Try not to get pissed and jump 14 rows of seats when we nab a last minute winner on Friday though.

Looks like I have the all-clear to plod round (maybe not on the 3.45 train though). Very surreal week - not run for a month, couldn't run for 10 mins on Monday (calves tightened to agonising proportions) and as a result of that 10 mins could barely walk Tuesday. Tried a couple of things my physio who has been treating my neck) recommended and by Friday decided to have a quick go on the treadmill - did 4m then, 6m Saturday, 13m Sunday, 4.5m Monday and 5m yesterday without so much as a twinge. Appears I might have been suffering from 'adverse neural mobility' rather than 'flimsy calves' - possibly for years. Have done a lot of reading around it this week and seems to make sense. Early days but if it solves my recurrent calf issues than brilliant - just more than a bit annoying it's taken nearly 15 years to work it out. Might be of interest to anyone with calf/hammy issues.................................nothing more complicated than a few stretching moves that takes a few minutes.

Quite a few on here, including me, will be in the Phoenix 10K in July https://www.sportsystems.co.uk/ss/event/BrightonPhoenix10K20162

It's the unofficial NSC 10K race for the year and it's on a Wednesday evening, 13th July at 7.30 so there will be beers afterwards.

I have entered this but as its only just over a month before the Reykjavik marathon will see how hard I want to push it - 55mins last year for me! Enjoyed it as so so flat along that part of the seafront.

Same last year. I walked from Brighton station, helped calm the nerves and there were hundreds of people doing the same thing. Just made sure I left plenty of time so it was a slow easy walk.
