Hemed- Nowhere near Championship standard

Hemed played a lot better tonight when Bobby came on. He just isn't dominating enough to be the main striker and doesn't have sufficient mobility or touch to be the second striker. He doesn't win many headers and finds it hard to hold the ball so that is why we have been playing 442.

So is the problem coaching / management ?

Does not score enough , but creates very little , not many assists either , finding it very hard for him to justify his place in the team

I would take a punt on Nanki wells at Huddersfield. Has the knack of finding the net .

Time to give this one a bounce - put up by the OP at probably in scoring terms his weakest moment (one goal in 16 weeks or something).

Anyone on this thread got anything they'd like to revisit? Would those slaughtering the bloke feel in any way awkward/ignorant/stupid if he helped fire Brighton into the Premier League?

Always said he would score us 15 goals in the league this year. Standing by it. Although hoping for one or two more. You can see why Chris stood by him.

Directly involved in 17 goals (11 goals, 6 assists) in the Championship this season now. 6 more than any other player. He's coming good (again) at just the right time.

edit: beaten to it by Munkfish. We must have seen the same tweet!

Great bounce.......no coincidence that as soon as the supply lines (decimated by injuries) were re-established, he's started scoring again. Seems to be playing with tons of confidence now, adding a bit of flair too, coupled with his workrate which has never been anything other than terrific. He's never going to be the quickest or most mobile, but pair him with a scampering duracell bunny like Baldock and two great wingers and he's showing his true worth.

Yes, I'm sure promotion to the Premier League will be ruined for some people because 10 months previous they said they didn't rate Hemed  it's almost not worth the effort in going up.

Still can't help feeling Hemed is going through a purple patch like at the beginning of the season, really hope he continues his form until the end.

Exactly.
Football is all about service to the front men. I despaired at the idiocy on here, with posters clamouring for millions to be spent on new strikers. It was obvious that with Solly and KLL injured and Murphy underperforming, that goals would dry up. It was also clear, given early season evidence, that our best front pairing is Hemed and Baldock and now they are reunited we are scoring again. Throw in all the creative options now available...Murphy ( playing well ) Knocky, KLL and Skalac and Hemed will now score regularly in the run-in.

Nearly all strikers are ' streak ' players. They thrive on confidence and go on little runs of scoring, then stop for a while, then start again. Study the careers of most forward players and the pattern is the same. The only exceptions are the truly world class who just manage to keep that consistency going. Messi doesn't go many games without scoring. These scoring streaks usually last 8-10 games and usually produce 6-8 goals. In a very good season a striker would hope to have three of these streaks and end the season with around 25 goals. Looks like Hemed is going to have two. His first 7 games of the season produced 5 goals. In the 8th game he missed a penalty at Wolves and his confidence dipped. His latest run has produced 5 goals in 8 games and the test is now whether he can keep it going.

It makes such a change for an old thread to be bounced and to know I don't have to quickly scan through it to see if I've made myself look a nincompoop.

A rare luxury indeed, and not one available to everybody :lolol:
