Pocognoli was linked with us previously and if West Brom get knocked out of the cup he won't play for them again. Hasn't been impressive tonight, mind.

Would be preferable, even a right-footed one would be better than our 4th choice right back playing there.

Our third choice right back would be better than our 4th. choice right back playing there. Have you just lost count of our RBs?

(Anyway, our third choice RB - who is also our third choice LB - is, in my opinion, probably the best third choice full back in the league. It is never ideal, playing your third choice player in any position, but all in all, methinks we moan too much. Our third choice full back could be a whole lot worse!)

Good:
Brilliant left back at Championship level.
Hughton's Championship winning left back at Newcastle.
Probably available for loan.

Bad:
We'd have surely signed him in the transfer window if there was any possibility of him coming here.
Not played this season.
Probably injured.
We'd maybe have to cover all his wages (£50k+?)

Conclusion:
Sadly, not going to happen.

Played home and away against Exeter in the last couple of weeks. Currently fit, not needed at Liverpool

No thanks. Utter rubbish and would NO WAY lay himself on the line, out of contract at end of season and turned down the chance to go on loan to Newcastle in Jan where he would have actually PLAYED in case he gets injured. Holding out for a free and one of these who is genuinely only in it for the money.

Their youngster who played against West Ham last night would be a shout, looked really hungry.

It's grim oop north
Can anyone with a strong preference for one foot over the other really be described as two footed?

Yeah. Like a right footed player who can cross with both feet exactly the same but has a wart on his left foot and an ingrowing toenail on his left big toe....so prefers to cross with his right. Even though the left footed cross would be just as good. You know?

Who's played right back before

Yes, players are sometimes asked to play out of position. Sometimes they even do a job. Sometimes even young defenders do play a few games as full backs before being entrusted with a CB role (Steve Cook and John Stones spring to mind, for example).

Still, if Goldson can do a better job at RB than Calde, he'll presumably be better at LB too? Logical, you must admit.

OK then, let's suggest to CH that we play CG at LB......fair enough; until the return of Greer and Uwe, I'm sure Calde will do his best not to let us down at CB alongside Dunk.

Sorry. The club are notorious for not divulging information about the players' injuries. I really didn't know about the ingrowing toe-nail. That's awful - out for about 6 months, right?

Need a LB who can also head with the right side of his head. Too many left backs can only head on their left side always sending the ball out of play.
