So bored of this endless Murray bollocks.
We. Are. Not. Signing. Him. Again.
Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarr

I have no idea who may or may not come but I just get the feeling there's far too much water under the bridge for Murray to ever come back here.

1. A striker has never been promised.

2. Despite that, I believe the club are trying hard to add more firepower but they'll only do so if:
i) The striker is better or 'different' to what we already have.
ii) The deal represents value for money. That doesn't mean being cheap, but means not being ripped off.

I) better than than hemed or Zamora who can't play 90 mins week in week out and better than baldock mmmm shouldn't be that that hard

If no one comes up with enough cash for Rhodes and we are the only party we could get him, but that is unlikely. I suspect he is classed as a "rip off" in Bozza terms.

Murray ticks a lot of the boxes. But based on previous years striker signings since Bloom came on board, with the exception of CMS, the striker won't be one of the obvious names.

That's my feeling as well. If we do sign that elusive striker this side of the deadine, he is more likely to come from the continent, or a lowert division Football League club.

It is totally pointless bandying names like Rhodes and McCormack about, as no way would Tony Bloom get into a price war, and end up paying well over the odds for established, big name, strikers like that.

If we don't sign anyone then we'll be left behind our rivals in the push for promotion.

No experienced proven striker and we can definitely kiss goodbye to autos and quite possibly playoffs IMO. Our forwards are not of the required quality barring BZ and he is an injury waiting to happen at his age and the amount we are asking him to play.

This.
I saw crouch play when i went to se england play, and i remember thinking hes actully very good with the ball at his feet.
Looked better live than on the tv

I saw Crouch playing for Spurs reserves against Albion reserves when he was just a kid and even skinnier than he is now. Even then he was clearly a very skilful if ungainly player.

Without doubt we need at least one striker, if not two. Our goal difference and our ability to score goals measn we, realistically, can hope to finish somewhere between 10th - 6th, just grabbing that last spot if we're lucky.

Just look at Burnley last night, Boro's striking options and it's easy to see why we're slipping behind the pace, and we're not fully into the heavy part of the season.

It's about ambition now and gambling on an overseas "prospect" may be all we can do but will probably not be enough, sadly. That said, would I stick my hand in my pocket for the £6-8m for a striker .... no.

It's really just your last paragraph I'm interested in Tim. The first sentence of which I agree with, the second one I don't.

It probably will only be an overseas of lower division prospect that TB will agree to shell out on, (if at all). But would I spend big bucks on a proven striker?, yes I would.

As you yourself say, it's all about ambition now. How much do we want to play in the Premier League? I know how much I want to. Very much indeed.

If it's going to require luck to finish 6th, how on earth have we managed to make it into 4th position with over 60% of the season already played then?

6 1/2 days to sign a striker, otherwise we'll be going all in on Glenn Murray on or around 26th Feb.

Glenn Murray may well also be the fall back option if Wilson is recalled later.

You are aware he was a Gary Dicker tackle away from DEFINITELY resigning for us previously.
Still lives in Brighton.
Never wanted to leave in the first place.

It's pretty obvious why this (correctly) rumbles on and on, isn't it?

Yes. It's rumbled on for four ****ing years because people have no imagination.
He does live here. But he's still a **** for leaving.

I find it hard to believe there's a striker on planet who is actually value for money.
Esp one the club feels can push on at the top of the Championship.
