Maybe I remember incorrectly but Arsenal accepted our offer and reading matched it and it was up to the player where he went.

" In January 2003 Brighton and Stoke City both had bids for Sidwell rejected by Arsenal but an offer from Reading was accepted" - that's more how I remember it, but that reference is to Wikipedia, so I won't push it too hard! To be fair, if Sidwell chose Reading at the time, it was probably because they were 'bigger' than we were at the time, and he was not being unreasonably ambitious.

That should be amended to had a reasonable game to day breaking up play but poor on the ball and should have scored or at least got his shot on target. Sorry Crofts is now past it at this level injuries have caught up with him. Sidwell would be a great signing or as per rumours his team mate Charlie Adams. Kayal got caught in possession a lot today.

Arsegravy that Crofts is past it, he is a bit off his game at the moment but if he gets a few games now, I am confident he will be putting in top performances. Start of last season he was outstanding, before injury.

If our CM options were Kayal, Stephens, Sidwell and Crofts, I for one would be well satisfied.

I remember going to highfield road in c 2003 and seeing us draw 0 0 with cov. I am sure that I walked away saying "That ginger fella was the best player in the pitch". Therefore 12 years (or so) later this is an amazing signing.

It's a shame that Ince is being written off by so many as I seem to remember he was looking good for being our midfield general a while back. Maybe I am remembering it wrong.

Have a listen to Chris' post match interview where he is directly asked the question about whether he is interested in signing Sidwell.

He knows how to skip round a question but he will never openly lie in an interview. He makes a mistake and gets caught in two minds on whether to skip round the question OR answer truthfully and he nearly says Yes I would be interested or No that's not what we are actually looking for.

He then corrects himself and avoid the question. That leaves us no further forward but I have a feeling he would be interested in him but probably he may want more money than we would be willing to pay for someone that age, hence he danced round the question, just in case nothing comes of it.

Can't really be sure though but is was very strange to see him get caught that way during an interview. The journalist did very well to make him at ease enough to almost give something away in a press interview.

Basically the answer is that a six month deal, if the wages weren't too much of a problem, would be a splendid outcome. That aim may, of course, be a long way off happening. So, CH was caught with an awkward question?.....fair enough, it happens; so this one isn't definitely dead in the water yet, then?

Not sure if loan or permanent

Is actually incorrect though yes? Heard he was at the game and put 2 and 2 together to try and grab an 'exclusive' I presume  this place honestly

JC asks him 2 questions at once - "did you know he was here?" and "is he the sort of player we are looking at" or something like that. CH does get mixed up and says something along the lines of "that is news to me, friend of Bobby etc" and then gets back on message with the "if we get the chance to strengthen anywhere on the pitch, then we will" answer.

I would summise that CH's first answer was regarding whether he knew that he was watching the game and that if there has been interest from us in Sidwell, then it is still there.
