Dare to dream, it is a possibility.

Why risk your prize asset when you have won everything? As suggested - Calleri must be leaving. You have to look at the likes of Inter, Chelsea & Arsenal being the obvious destinations but just the mere tiny possibility of this fella coming to us fills me with enormous wonder and excitement. If not Calleri, I

I know that it's taken as read that if faced with a choice of Arsenal, Chelsea or us, he'd obviously plump for the a Prem team but I'm not wholly convinced. They'd be favourites but put yourself in his shoes. He could join a PL team, spend most of the time bench-warming but come on for 10 or 15 minutes now and then, playing against the best-defenders in the country. He'd have no serious game time, have to adapt to new league and culture knowing that every mistake would be scrutinised.

Or, he could join a second-tier team, be a confirmed starter against second-rate defenders and with no big media presence criticising every flaw. He could adjust to English football away from the spotlight and, if he fitted in and did well, the probability of Prem football anyway. And if he didn't fit in, then he could go somewhere else with head held high.

Of course, short term the PL is best but if he took a longer view, he might plump for us. I'm not saying he will, of course, but at least there's an argument for us

It's not as simple as us or a top team.

The issue is more - first team football where you are the main man and adored/highly valued by the fans, or be stuck in the development squad barely getting a sniff of a proper game, and no one knows nor cares who you are.

Obviously going a bit rose-tinted with that but there is something in it.

Can you give some examples of players that have done as you suggest, ie big fish in little pond as opposed to massive salary on bench.

Do these deals even exist anymore? The last one I can remember was Owen at Manure.

No. And Owen was pretty much the only one ever. Anyone suggesting we sign players on a pay per play deal is a clueless nimrod.

Mascherano and Tevez? Near World class players going to lower half prem team. Worshipped there.

CMS was apparently wanted by Prem clubs and Zamora said he had some bigger offers but wanted to come to Brighton.

I don't follow enough clubs to know other examples but Austin, Rhodes and McCormack were all tipped as potential PL players but signed for Champ clubs - don't know if anyone put in an offer though.

I did say that in a race between C and PL clubs, the PL would be clear favourite but that a case could be made for going lower.

Errrr. They went to a top flight team and there were the suspicions around third party ownership which may have scared a few of the bigger teams off. Liverpool only signed Mascherano once it had been sorted.

Hear what you are saying but unlikely that CMS is in the same league as JC. As for BZ, agree, but he's earnt his fortune and has come home. As for the others, difficult to comment with out knowing who was in the market for them.

That said, I hope you are right and he decides to acclimatize himself to British football with us. Here's hoping.

At the moment we are the only club who have made a bid. Others might come in, or they might not, but Boca need money.
