I'm not sure how to interpret this post, and am mildly concerned. I'd be disappointed if we sold him to Fulham for that amount. £5m (with add-ons), and I might change my mind. But, even then, it would send out a message that Dunk doesn't exactly rate our future, given he's keen to go to a club that finished a few places above us last season.

Sorry, don't be concerned as it's only my thoughts based on nothing much. All I'm saying is...

1. That I believe "every player has his price" and, if a Championship club met that for one of our players, wouldn't we take it?

2. We have said, most notably around the sale of Ulloa, that if a player wants to leave then we will maximise the return to the club. If Lewis DID want to leave to go to, say, Fulham, wouldn't we then just work on getting every last penny out of them whilst facilitating the deal?

So, thus far we've signed (1st team only)

Liam Rosenior - 23rd June
Tomer Hemed - 24th June
Gaetan Bong - 2nd July
Niki Maenpaa - 6th July

So, burst of signings... but now a gap of 11 days

I'm on the fence right now. Our business has been intriguing. I've said for as long as I can remember that we need a permanent left back to bring stability to the back four and we have it (though how good remains to be seen, but he is an international). Rosenior is better than either of the other right backs. Hemed is a totally unknown quantity but at least his highlights reel shows he's strong and good in the air. The goalkeeper signing baffles me. I can see the logic of giving Walton games. However, what happens when he comes back? Is he third in the queue again? How do we evaluate him? For me he did fine when replacing Stockdale last season and he's good enough irrespective of his age. Should have stayed and pushed Stockdale for the starting spot IMHO.

The attack worries me too (again including the caveat regarding Hemed above). Baldock showed he can score when played regularly and if he started off Hemed that would be pretty good. O'Grady isn't up to it at this level and we need to replace with better. Who knows about Colunga? Talented without a doubt but unrated by Hughton and awful at home at times last season. Then there's no replacement for Tex yet while one of our wingers is completely injury prone and the other is bafflingly loved when all he does is step over, cut inside and waste it. Every bloody time.

We need two centre backs, a winger, a creative player and a COG replacement at minimum to come in. Some of those will be loans but not all should be, We also need to hang on to Dunk. Oh, and message to the cheeses, we'll judge the signings around Christmas time again, not at the end of the window.

Agree with most of this, although I keep banging on that I'd be far happier with quality over quantity, so just one centre back for me, and I might sacrifice one of those attackers too.

My concern is decreasing from its prior 'mild' status

Thinking about it one GOOD CB should be ok. I am guessing that at a push Rosenior could drop in there and Bruno play RB. Hughton may even be thinking of moving Rea up. But, for me, a regular partnering of Dunk and Greer isn't going to be good enough.

perhaps the question now is what comes first, a signing or the next chapter of the Barber files. You know the one... Working hard, ffp, loan window, ffp, judge us at the end etc. Me, I hope it is a signing but fear it will be the latter.

thats half of the problem "could happen" it seems as a club it always might happen. would be nice for a change if we actually saw some real intent!!!

What is intent? We are rumoured to have bid over a million pounds for 3 players. Every signing we've made has come from left field. Apart from the club announcing every player we are looking at. I'd love to know what the club can do more to make you feel we are showing some intent.

We seem to generally go with a squad of 26.

Currently we have 24, but this includes Walton, so this should become 23.

So 3 more signings if no one leaves, but in my opinion Colunga and Chicksen are virtually certain to go, meaning 5 to get in.

Replacements for :

Halford - Rea promoted
Hughes - Central defender to be signed
Bennett - Bong signed

McCourt/Ledesma/Carayol - Winger to be signed
Kemy - Attacking Midfielder to be signed
Tex - Midfielder ( winger? ) to be signed

CMS - Hemed signed
Colunga/Best - Striker to be signed if Colunga leaves

Rosenior is not a direct replacement for anyone, so Chicksen to go ?

Dunk to be replaced ?
O'Grady to be replaced ?

It's the Greer bit, rather than the Dunk. Rea played all of that first friendly at CB, and again against Southampton (Bruno also played there), so perhaps that is where CH has him earmarked for, which makes sense given we have plenty of defensive-minded midfielders and only two other CBs. If Rea is expected to play there, then we'll probably need a CB in the 25-30 age range, given we've got two that are under 25, and the other one is approaching 35.

With around 6 signings still required, it would be a major disappointment to get the Barber excuse email at this stage.

not looking likely today.
Becoming a wee bit concerned, got to get the forward types in soon if we are to be ready come Forest with the need to work as a unit on shape etc. A few more days of nothing next week and that concern will be serious worry for me.
