I have just read this as I avoided it for potential spoilers. Seems your view of the band is the same as mine but more eloquent. Some songs were just stunning last night. Out of interest what did he do to be a dickhead? Whilst odd, he seemed okay last night. Picture Me Gone was special and a great finisher. He also did a 4 song encore and the final track seemed to be extra as the band were preparing to leave but he rallied them for another tune.

"Throughout the night Pink was agitated: he initially emerged bizarrely shouting the names of investment banks; a part where he loudly exhorts people to “buy the merch” goes on a little too long for comfort, while his frustration with the crowd leads him to admonish them for “not having enough sex”. The show itself ended without an encore, well before eleven and with a set-list that pales in comparison to the night before. It’s a small scale example of the self-sabotage that makes him a love-it-or-hate it proposition. His constant reassurance that he’s “only joking” wears extremely thin.

There’s some artists you forgive the odd off night, the Fall spring immediately to mind. Ariel Pink remains one of the most talented artists of his time, that more people don’t see that is an entirely self-inflicted wound. Reports from that London show referenced above were wildly laudatory, however, this night in Brighton, whilst appealing to his hardcore support, was extremely unlikely to have won him any new fans."

There was a part when he was repeatedly calling the crowd losers as well. I think he'd got it into his head that Brighton was a stuffy money city and that no one here got him. By all accounts he was humble and genial the night before in London. I got the idea that he thought Brighton on a wet Tuesday night was beneath him.

Thanks. Interesting. He seems like John Lydon, wonderful when he's in his playful mood but a disaster when he isn't. He seemed up for it last night. A shame he acts like that. I'd love to interview him. I have a heap of questions I'd like to ask.

His intro last night consisted of him walking on stage and shouting German phrases. At one point he was shouting ein hundert hundfleisch which translates as one hundred dog flesh.....no I have no idea either.

Thing is.... it wasn't a bad gig. Could have been so much better though.

I don't know if anyone on here went last night but Spandau Ballet at the Brighton Centre were absolutely Outstanding. One of the very best gigs I have ever been to. I can't remember enjoying a concert as much in my life. They were just Superb

Wanted to go Uncs but was stuck at work. Busy schedule for SB, racing down to Wales for Steve Strange's funeral today. How much were your tickets?

Surprised no one's mentioned (the rescheduled):

Mobb Deep, Wed 6 May, play 'the infamous', Concorde 2.

Anyone going?

What - no one? Is it cos they're rap?

Caribou was top notch tonight; very enjoyable. The crowd took some time to warm up but when they got going it was great fun. Mr Caribou was visibly enjoying himselr and seemed to be a bit gobsmacked at the scale of the venue and humbly commented on the size a few times.

Looking forward to a change from my usual fare tonight.
5-4-3-2-1 Ah ha, it's The Manfreds at Haywards Heath tonight.
Not only Paul Jones, but I believe a guest appearance from Mike d'Abo too. Actually, really looking forward to it.

This was an excellent gig. Paul Jones looks and sounds in his thirties. Terrific set including Tom McGuiness doing a couple of McGuiness Flint hits. Led by the three original members, all in their 70s, a great selection of Blues, jazz and hits, plus a signing session afterwards. Plus an audience who barely know what to do with a mobile phone and respect everybody at the gig by not talking over the music. Cool night. Never thought I would see the core of the musicians who performed 5-4-3-2-1, Mighty Quinn and When I'm Dead and Gone from the 60s and indeed have the opportunity to sing along with them.

No idea but it tends to be those in the back third of the audience some of whom behave as if they wish they were back home. This evening it was particularly bad.

Disappointing. I tend to try and get near the front these days as it's normally the more die-hard fans at the front and if it isnt the sheer volume of sound will hopefully prevail. Either that or just stick to seeing Mötorhead; no such problems as you can't even hear yourself think let alone hear anyone else.

The Stranglers?

They were also brilliant but I have seen them 6 years in a row now, the last time I saw Spandau Ballet was in 1988 and it just brought back all those good memories I had from that period of time. They were magnificent the 3 times I saw them in the 1980's but they were even better this time and who knows it may be the last time I see them live ? A really special night https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_kTz0ES1uM

Had a great time watching Caribou at Brixton Academy last night. Superb gig, heavier than I expected. Smiths Indeed next Saturday at the Concorde!
