This must be a Chris Hughton signing. He's the manager now and we have to hope he knows what he's doing. Got to give Leon a chance - as someone else said - maybe he'll click with us and become a legend. Then again .......

But you've got to give him a chance.

Would guess he will be gone before the weekend just after he has found his feet

Best is cup-tied , don't think CH will let O'Gravy go until after Sunday at the earliest and maybe not until transfer deadline day.

mmm, so maybe it wasn't Burke who was responsible for apparent poor signings, or rather, the budget afforded to him only allowed him the scrape the bottom of the barrel.

Potentially very good signing. Happy with that. But then I don't have delusions of grandeur like a fair few of our fans currently.

Delusions of grandeur? I think I'm pretty level headed when it comes to Brighton, but signing a player who his own club's fans think is a joke, and was sent home early from a season long loan without any goals to his name hardly inspires confidence that he'll fire us away from danger does it?

He may well click and do the business, but on paper I can't see too much to be positive about here.

Give him a chance people, if he stay`s fit, I predict he will be a big hit. That rhymes :albion2:
Nice positive first post.

The certainty with which people proclaim about new signings never ceases to amaze me. It is obviously something of a lottery at our level as to how signings turn out.

Fingers crossed that Leon Best enjoys a purple patch with us.

The plan is now showing itself
No real investment for this season....just avoid relegation, that's Hughton's task, and start shopping in the summer

Agreed. Doesn't matter where we finish as long as its 21st or above. Obviously the further up the table the better!

Hughton can shift out the dead wood and stamp his own mark on the team heading into next season, hopefully with Tony's generous financial backing. :)

I will certainly support him, but cannot say I'm excited. Another loan. Another uninspiring signing. Do the club's board want NONE of the butterflies to renew their ST's? Are they certain we will have enough to avoid the drop?

Continuing the grand Brighton and Hove Albion tradition of signing difficult players with attitude problems - Leon Knight, CKR and now Leon Best. Even in that photo on the official site of him holding up the shirt he looks as though he's gunning for a scrap with the person behind the lens.

Steve McLaren: "He has been an absolute gem - a model professional," McClaren said. "His attitude has been great every day. He has just been unfortunate that he has been behind Chris Martin, who has been incredible for the first half of the season."

if Leon Best cant score in a team like Derby's what chance has he got here? Yet another uninspired loan in a season of uninspired loans!

People go on stats too much on this site, People wanked themselves off over Colunga, Spanish Rod and several other signings without knowing nothing about him.

Hopefully he can get fit and score a few goals, as I said very early on in this thread, he could be very good for us. Its not like we are losing anything, our strikers have scored **** all goals all season anyway.

I was trying to think of the name of the striker who scored 4 (I think) against us for Northampton when they tonked us 8-0 in a league cup replay in 1966. I'm sure that was Best.

That aside if Leon can bring Baldock and/or CMS or Colunga into play he will be doing the job we need. He doesn't need to be a goalscorer to change the way we play and let others do what they have been successful at elsewhere.

I'm not sure what people expect us to be signing in January? All the good players are being kept with clubs. The best you will ever get in January are players that can't get a first team start or you pay over the odds to tempt them but that's crazy money given our situation.

We are not going to reach the play offs this season so we only need enough to ensure safety. We can then try and strengthen the squad properly in the summer when players are more available and your options are not so limited.

Best is properly as good as we could manage for now.
