I got up early full of excitement. My mum made me put on my Sunday best and she made me some lovely meat paste sandwiches. The neighbours all came out to wave me off….yes it was cup final day….who are you playing Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool? They all asked…. no we’re playing the 19th best team in the Championship…yes that’s right it’s cup final day and we’re off to big club Brighton. The neighbours were impressed…..watch out for Darren Bent, he’s played for England and is very good they said..…I had to point out that, for some unfathomable reason, Mr Bent had decided to go and ply his trade somewhere else.

We had a lovely day out and didn’t play very well but it didn’t really matter because the 19th best team in the Championship weren’t very good. The Cup Final stadium was great they had some nice man with a microphone who explained to the big team’s fans at the beginning how to sing and cheer which was very nice of him.

Some of the big club’s fans were very cross that a little insignificant club like ours beat them, we’re getting quite used to that this season and hear it all the time, and we are all very sorry for any offence we’ve caused.

out sang us. not a suprise the amex is like a library. no atmosphere and its very embarrasing. Given that we fame ourselves for the old north stand its such a shame that we produced such a weak looking and sounding north stand/cop end in the amex. Supose this was for planning reasons.

im just awaiting the ol withdean classic coming from the away end "shhhhhh, is their anybody out there?"

Well that was not really worth the effort.
To be fair, it probably was. Brentford will revert to their usual average selves next season when their manager moves to a bigger club - a team like MK Dons or Barnsley - and 6,500 are once again rattling around in Griffin Park.

Nothing wrong with that of course, except at that point, he won't be able to "hilariously" post on other forums that "we're getting used to nice big clubs being upset about being beaten by us". Because, erm, they won't be.

Personally I wish them well as Brentford are possibly one of my favourite tin-pot outfits.

Same here. Nothing against Brentford. I have always liked the Bees. It was just a bit of a poor attempt to paint all our support as something most of us are not. We know where we have been.

And it was hardly original. And they registered just to post that.

Well indeed. A very dreary post, and such a significant effort - all because a handful of people on here posted to say that Brentford's support was quiet given their numbers.

So kind, perhaps the next time we come we can have a visit to your much fabled trophy room .You seem to have forgotten that most of your history you have been lower league fodder, just like us; granted you have always had great support but our historical achievements don't look so very different to yours in the cold light of day.

Personally I find the dross on the pitch to be embarrassing, y'know, the actual football part of going to the football.

and im talking about the atmosphere (or lack of it) which is part of the full match day experience.

I didn't say they did. You've had one season in the top flight, we've had four. That's about the only difference between our almost equally mediocre honours lists. As DKM says above, most of us are well aware where we've come from thanks.

But out of interest, how many Brighton fans were all over your internet forum after we beat you in the cup to mock any sour grape slurs on our club? I'd hope and presume there were none, especially where their very first post was one as sad as the one you just posted.

Sure. I just think worrying about some perceived lack of 'football noise cred' is a bit pointless when the thing to be concerned about is the on-pitch performance.

Although, having said that, if the atmosphere was better it might distract from the on-pitch misery. You might be onto something with this atmosphere thing.

For the pedant, it was 5 seasons in the top flight.

I have nothing against Brighton at all, I've enjoyed the three meetings this season a great deal. I'm a bit of a football anorak and have seen you at the Goldstone, Gillingham, the Withdean and now the Amex, I even came to that Fans United match way back at the Goldstone; but it's the patronising nature of some of your fans (don't worry you're not the only ones) that quite frankly a lot us are enjoying and if you're a bit thin skinned about it, well tough.

The thinnest skinned one around here is you. You're so thin skinned that you registered with the sole purpose of posting a really crap post responding to what you perceived as sour grapes.

Surely that is because if you go on ANY fans forum of ANY club, you will have some patronising sounding fans? Do you honestly believe from your experience playing us this season both home and away, that on a whole we're a patronising lot, seriously?

Or are you just playing on this whole up with the big boys nonsense that you are largely creating yourselves?

Oh I nearly forgot and apologises if it's already in this thread.

Why were a dozen or so young Brentford toe-rags being escorted back onto a train, at about 2:40, on Saturday?

If it was the same ones I saw being lectured outside the away end then it was to do with us all being poofs and taking it up the arse etc, etc.
