This boring tag is quite laughable when we are facing l1 football .

Don't forget garcia came here with an exciting tag and look how his tactics were . If CH is conservative my bet is it's nowhere near the levels of OG so not to concerned .

It's been so awful this season with many a weekend with nil points that the only way is up .

At the end of the day wins matter and hopefully we will see plenty more than we have .

Also if you go all out in the prem - with lesser players you get made to look stupid . Not fair comparison for me .

Welcome CH , let's get behind him and the players

So, new manager with a decent track record (especially at this level), vast experience, in before the window opens, former International, Sami and Burke gone, great job by Jones in the last two weeks and who will stay as part of the setup, out of the drop zone, players clearly fired up and fighting, brilliant night at Fulham and TB likely to be throwing some cash at new players. On balance, I'd say things are generally positive.............

What realistic appointment would it have taken to be overwhelmed?

The way the players have responded to NJ and the way NJ has changed personnel and formation before and during a game I would have thought that the best interview anyone could have given.
As we are away to a decent side on Saturday no doubt he will be taking over on Monday....

For all the sceptics, just ask yourself one question:

Would you rather have Chris Hughton in charge for the rest of the season - or have stayed with Sami Hyppia?

Suddenly this may feel like the most upbeat and inspirational appointment you could ever imagine....

I wonder if your view was the same during your promotion season ?

He didn't get us promoted, and Lambert had a year in the prem with us?

He did do well at Birmingham, and he looked like he would do with us, but ultimately he failed (and regarding the sacked while being comfortably clear, we had games against United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea left and were basically already down after having lost to a whole host of teams around us).

I am sure Hughton will change that...

In answer to your did we have the players, yes we did. Played fantastic football under Lambert, players like Fox and Hoolahan key to an attacking fluent style of play.

Under hughton they were frozen out, and he spent the best part of £50 million on guys he couldn't get into his side like RVW.

We were the lowest scorers in all the league's last season under him, you'd have had to go down to the ninth tier to find lower scorers.

Look he might do a fine job here, championship is his level, but from a Norwich fan perspective, he is a terrible terrible football manager. Take some other form of entertainment when going to watch his team's play!
I lived in Norwich when you had your brush with Europe in the mid 90s and went to a few games. I have never seen supporters moan more when they had it so good so if they don't rate Hughton then he gets a big thumbs up from me. Reminds me of Charlton fans hounding out Curbishley.

I too know a long standing Norwich season ticket holder who was telling me how dull the football was under Hughton . . . The thing we have to consider though is whether Norwich had the players to play any other way without getting thumped.

This is the most insightful post there's been on here for a while. Unless we get the right players in, I think we'll be hovering around the relegation zone - regardless of who's in charge. Getting the right players is somewhat tempered by having to pay for stadiums and training grounds. I just hope Hughton is given more of a chance than Sami was.

Admittedly from Wiki but probably pretty accurate.

played 231
won 93
drew 65
lost 73

win percentage - 40.26

Decent when you consider a decent amount of those where premier league games with midtable/bottom half teams!

Don't get me started about my fellow Norwich fans. It's shameful what we've become, the atmosphere at carrow road is dreadful now. Seems like half turn up to moan not support the team!!

I'm happy enough with where we are atm, playing decent football and in and around the promotion places. Our squad isn't actually as good as people make out tbh

I'm pretty happy with this appointment. Pulis would have excited me more, but was, imo, never a realistic target for us. I'd have slightly preferred Brian McD to Hughton, but am more than content with Hughton.

I wonder how long Nathan will stick around. He's had a taster of the #1 job and is widely regarded as having made a success of the two games. He's said himself that's he's ambitious. He's gonna want a #1 job at some point, isn't he? It wouldn't surprise me at all if he went for a L1/L2 manager's job at some point in the next year. Ironically, I think him leaving is more likely if Hughton is successful with us than if he is unsuccessful, since that will make it more likely that Hughton stays for a decent length of time. Sincere thanks, Nathan, for the two games you were in charge - you inherited a team 4 points short of safety and passed on a team that is currently safe. That's a result.

Think you're right about Nathan. He's really done us and himself proud in those two games. If Hughton keeps us up this year, but fails to progress the team, I'd be happy to give Nathan a go in the summer, but now is not the right moment for him. Beyond that, I'd be surprised if he's still with us in the summer.

Good choice. I wanted Pulls but Hughton seems a good fit. Nathan Jones on board to add a little passion and what's not to like. Welcome Chris and good luck. Seeeeegullĺlllssssssssssssssssss

Interestingly, before Christmas a few mates and their mates got together and chatted about football (you know, like blokes do). There was a cross-section of fans from Championship and Premier League clubs. Among many topics, someone raised the issues of the 'most deluded' and 'annoying' fans. Norwich were mentioned more than any other club for their fans' totally unrealistic expectations and for generally being quite arrogant and annoying....

Good appointment, has the experience. Those that are saying that they are underwhelmed by the appoitment, who did you want?
