Solly March - Southampton

How the f*%K is it a great deal when the likelyhood is there will be no replacement. March will be worth far more than that in a year or 2. Pisses me off when fans say "great deal for the club". How? it wont be reinvested, he will just be replaced with some cheap journeyman who will play for £50 a week. If i was Hypia I would be out of there in a shot

March is a fine young prospect but at the moment, that's all he is. IF he goes on and becomes worth far more then good luck to Southampton who will have judged that he will be. But currently, 4 million quid for him represents a good deal. Also, it's not sensible to stand in the kid's way when he has a chance to play in the Premiership, no doubt with a hefty pay rise.
We don't know if the cash will be re-invested or not do we? You say it won't but you don't actually know, yet.

Not many sides who get promoted to the Prem completely change their starting XI, I'd say on average maybe 5 or 6 starters from the Championship then start in the Prem. In order to get promoted then half of your Championship team has to be Prem quality already. So how does it make sense to get rid of practically ALL of those that are?

Of our squad right now I'd say only Stockdale was of Prem quality. We have some exciting prospects, but Ince, Dunk, March, JFC would all have to stay AND deliver on their potential in 2014/15 just for us to be the same standard team as last season. Players like Bruno, Calde, Ward, Greer, Crofts, Stephens, O'Grady, Hughes to me look like decent Championship-standard players. What turns them into promotion-chasers is when they do their job and the likes of Ulloa, Vicente, Buckley deliver the magic.

The only prospect of any "magic" now is if March turns into the Buckley of old (possible), and/or if Lua Lua finds consistency (unlikely) and/or CMS discovers his 25 goals a season Peterboro form (unlikely). To be a promotion threat then those three would probably need to chip in with 35-40 goals between them. Last season it was less than 5.

Like what? Ask them to leave? Remember, it's Tony Bloom's board and he owns the club.

I'm sure Tony already knows the fans are restless, jumping up and down at a match TWO games into a new season BEFORE the end of the first transfer window makes absolutely no sense at all.

People seem to forget Tony was a supporter himself, he also said how frustrating it was when the club used to talk about getting certain players and it never happened.

The best post I've read in a while. Well said.

Not quite sure how he could have taken my post seriously.

Apologies. So many sodding drama queens at the moment, making ridiculously over the top statements, about the demise of the club, that its hard to tell the jokers from the pant pissers sometimes.

Sorry.

Sorry.

No problem, understandable with all the negativity flying around at the moment.

I've got an idea, shall we wait until the end of the transfer window and see how things stand then?

Don't be daft. It makes much more sense to cry like a spoilt child NOW.

Someone I know on the Southampton local paper says Saints have shot down the Solly March rumours. In flames.

Enquiries at the Southampton end suggest no truth in the rumours that #saintsfc are to bid for solly_March of #bhafc

Good news.
