True, but at the moment what indication is there that he isn't?

The Argus, and logic. And everything we know previously in the history of life, ever. It's very unlikely he's the replacement so it's pointless and negative to worry unduly, isn't it?

Oh post 400 is up for grabs, it'll be an easy one to remember when we reach :bounce: o'clock.

Clearly the CoG is a Hoskins replacement.
Anyone thinking otherwise is a moron.

Chances are he'll be better than most of the loanee strikers we've handed good money over too, so he might end up as good business.

£500k proves what little value there is in the market esp for strikers.

I expect the club to get near to or break the transfer record for Ulloa's replacement.
If it does how many people will be saying 'boy I was loud wrong on that'.

If it doesn't I may well join the ranks urinating on their beds, as even I will be questioning the clubs motivations, going forward.

This thread is absolutely embarrassing. Amazing what a few years at this level does to the mentality of some.

Oh well, I have an open mind I've only heard good about him from Barnsley fans and his record last season was decent for a relegated side.

Agreed. The attitude of some is amazing. Same with the signing of Hughes. I never thought I'd live to see the day, when Albion fans declared their dissappointment at the signing of a player with NINETY international caps.

He wants to be NEEDLESSLY NEGATIVE! Let him!
A NEEDLESSLY NEGATIVE NERYS on NORTHSTANDCHAT, oh my days, I don't think I've ever seen the like of that before.
He'll soon find himself out of step with the rest of the community.
I wager you, he'll jolly well mend his ways, very soon.

It wouldn't surprise me if this falls through. We were at the exact same stage with O'Grady in early June. £500k fee agreed with Barnsley, papers saying it was a done deal, just personal terms to sign off on. Then it all fell through and he was claiming it was because his family didn't want to move down South. In fact, according to reliable sources, the issue was entirely one of wages. We offered five grand a week, he wanted FIFTEEN and would not budge. Maybe the fact that the season is fast approaching and clubs aren't queuing up round the block to sign him (as one presumes his agent convinced him they would be) will make him more realistic in his demands, but we shall see. Would YOU pay £15k a week to COG?

The one downside of NSC is that it make you realise that, like every other club, we have (more than?) our fair share of arrogant fans (along with other even less attractive traits!).

Why do people see the Barnsley bit as a negative? They have been in Premiership more than we have!

It would appear many on here need to look up 'irony' in the dictionary before viewing and laughing at threads like the Pompey one.

Hey, everyone's right. I've changed my mind. I'm really excited that we're signing a striker from Barnsley.

No one's asking you to be excited. Just to see it for what it is. We've signed some decent cover with a good recent track record in this league.

I'm not excited. I can however, see why we've signed this player and that with a bit of luck it could be a very clever bit of business.

Agreed with that. I was quite happy with Hughes. Saw him as a good like for like replacement to Upson. Alongside Ward he'll be great.

But O'Grady just isn't exciting me, and I want to be excited. I'd even take a really strong rumour along the lines of Albion linked with a Rickie Lambert type player.

I know I'm being greedy.

It may be the case that nobody is asking me to be excited, but I want to get some inspiration from the Albion. Afterall, emails about Harveys and some deal with Nike aren't doing it for me. :)

We need 70-75 goals next season assuming we are not quite so tight, defensively.
COG.....10-12
CMS......10-12
KLL.........5-6
Buckley....7-8
Crofts......6-8
Rest of midfield.....10
Defence.......8

Lower end =56
Higher end=64

Based on an average...we need to buy in another 15 goals from somewhere.

I'd be surprised if it goes through as well. It smells of classic agent leaking the news to Sky Sports to try and sniff out other interest. Imagine he will want to stay in the north.
