Personally think there has been a bit of an over reaction to your post. I understand what your saying.

I know once one jumps on it with the likes of Frutos who go to the lowest denominator by throwing insults and and quoting bad English and grammar on a football forum to make them feel superior without offering anything constructive.

There are pensions, social housing and the NHS, so people have easy lives? Look around you, son.

All depends on your perspective of an easy life doesn't it.
By easy life I mean by not wanting to achieve anything and staying at home doing nothing they will always have a roof over there heads they will always have food in the cupboard.

Would these people stand up and defend us if it was required like our grandparents did, I don't think so.
I don't get the mentality of the mindset of this approach to life , it would not have happened 70 years which is the centre of my original post

I have just re-read your opening post and have to admit defeat. It is way beyond my limited talent, to offer anything constructive in response.

All I can see is that if you adopt the attitude that everything is shit, that is the way things will turn out and look for you. I also have it in my head, that those that made the sacrifice, would hope that future generations would be able to enjoy the good/easy times and not sit about moaning.

It is easy to judge others without sny real understanding ofvtheir situations.

What is that quote about not judging until you walk a mile in somebodies shoes.

I think that if you want the education, healthcare, housing, nutrition, technology etc etc that we enjoy today, the downside is that you may have a small number of lazy b******s around the edge taking advantage of everyone's hard work.

Unfortunately, if you read your history, you'll find that not everyone was a hardworking hero 70 years ago. The vast majority did the right thing while a small minority existed round the edges taking advantage of everyone's hard work.

I'm struggling to see your point

At its most fundamental level, our relatives fought for freedom: the freedom to say and do what we want within the confines of the Law. I think abusing the OP and - by extension - criticising people's choice of political party is hypocritical and unnecessary.

Oh do me a favour, they fought to stop us being invaded by the germans , yes there may have been people idealistic enough to think they were battling fascism , but the majority fought to defend this country , nothing more.

For a bit of perspective I wonder what our fallen red allies would have made of modern Russia?

Country: USSR
Military casualties: 11.0m
Civilian casualties: 6.7m
Total deaths: 17.7m
As % of population: 9.1%

Country: UK
Military casualties: 0.305m
Civilian casualties: 0.207m
Total deaths: 0.512m
As % of population: 1.1%
are they the allies who were allies with Hitler until he turned on them ?

The demographic of UKIP voters indicates that twice as many over 60s support UKIP compared to other parties.

http://www.lucidtalk.co.uk/ukips-voters-older-more-male-and-more-working-class-but-especially-older/

http://yougov.co.uk/news/2013/03/05/analysis-ukip-voters/

Arguably because of the experience of their youth these older generations have a keener grasp of what fascism looks like; consequently they distrust the EU and ergo vote UKIP.

In contrast many from the younger generations who know absolutely nothing of fascism consider that those who vote for UKIP are fascists.............probably just like you.

In any event, the uncomfortable reality for you is that a significant proportion of those veterans that recently lined up on the beaches of Normandy would have been UKIP voters.

Don't worry though, they are dwindling away now..............and there will be even less by 2017.
spot on.

And so it is today.

Unfortunately, some people's perceptions are easily manipulated by repeated distortions from the tabloids about "scrounger society" (simultaneously ignoring the vast wealth and tax manipulations of the fat cats who also sit around the edges doing nothing).

As Talking Heads would say, same as it ever was, same as it ever was.

I would have written something constructive, but if the content of the opening post was actually written by you rather than copied and pasted, you'd probably be too thick to understand it.

What's wrong with this country in my view is not any of the things you stated, in fact it's people like you who hold views like that and refuse to see the good in anything because things are different than they were in the past (note: not better or worse, just different).

I'd be pretty pissed off if I'd given my life in the fight against fascism and then people started spouting a bunch of utter nonsense and voted for the likes of UKIP and the BNP.

I shudder to think what you'd make of the class of '77 then. Only one or two generations after so many had made the ultimate sacrifice along came punk rock, the movement so loved by the OP, and made the swastika into a fashion symbol and wrote such lovely ditties as 'Belsen Was A Gas'. Charming and respectful, don't you think?

Actually, I'd be interested to hear Programme Seller's take on that seeing as he's so affronted by the lack of respect from this current generation.

Thing is the majority of us don't come into contact with "fat cats" day to day but we see "scroungers" everywhere (I have a family living below me) which is why we fight amongst ourselves while the "fat cats" get away with it!

The arse end of Hangleton
Rightwingers hate Britain. They slag it off at EVERY opportunity.

Really ? I'm a right winger - now show me a post I've slagged Britain off or shown a hatred of the country in ?

Says the person that loved Britain soooooo much he decided to bugger off and live somewhere else.
