Last time England lost in an opening game in the World Cup was in 1986 against Portugal

England missed the defensive leadership of John Terry. Phil Jagielka is not fit to have his wife's back doors smashed in by Big JT.

Rooney was crap.
Wilshire was crap. He's not going to best 4 players at a time.

The rest all done well.

We were second best tonight, but I was impressed with most of the players. Welbeck is a monster, Sturidge took his goal well, Sterling was exciting, Henderson was solid and the central defenders were alright. The main problems were Rooney (as per lots of predictions), Baines (lets just hope it was an off day) and Johnson who just doesn't seem to be at the races.

Rubbish 2nd half. Usual England world cup performance.
Defense was awful.
Please go home Wayne.
Gerrard not influential enough.
Baines should be driving the coach.
Sterling looked good in spells.
And Italy were not that good but looked stronger and fitter.
Wrong subs by Woy.
Waste of my time yet again.
At least the group is open but we have to be much better than that

We played quite well for 70 minutes. Great to see the young players get their chance. That's what we all wanted wasn't it?

Last 20 minutes was classic England. Misplaced passes all over the shop.

Oh well. Not bad. Better than watching the last WC.

Should have been 2-2, it was easier to score that chance of Rooney's than miss; hope he gets roasted by the press. Shrek-****

Well played England. The right team, the right manager. It's far from over and the future is bright.

If I told you Thursday "England sits better than Spain after their first respective games" you'd have been ecstatic.
