There is a icky feeling of love sick worship on here.

Let's see what he can do first before blindly hailing him as a messiah. His hands are going to be tied somewhat financially exactly the same as Oscar's were.

It's clear Bloom loves the old Burke and Jones act, I am not expecting miracles but do hope for better tactical nouse and improved attacking. If he manages to form a better squad then good luck to the man.

Hi all,

I am a longtime fan of Liverpool and especially Sami Hyypiä, because I am Finnish. I was really thrilled to see this one on news today. I hope that this will be a glorious era for Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. I just wanted to say my opinion and give some kind of a point of view with pros and cons about this. Firstly there has been lot of talk in Finnish football media, that Sami's ambition has been coaching in England. I am 100% sure that he will make everything to ensure success of the Seagulls. As a person he will do more than talk. When he was manager at Leverkusen, he never accused any single players from bad performance. That is not his style.

Pros:
- Very experienced in BPL
- Used to work in top level
- Seagulls offers best possible chance to do great things
- At Leverkusen, they won Bayer Munchen at Allianz Arena
- Wise and demanding, but calm
- very adaptive, he learned german very fast

Cons:
- Not any experience in Championship football
- Doesnt have lot of experience from transfer markets. At Leverkusen they mostly lost players to big teams and I didnt see lot of news about he making comments from transfers
- As a manager not very experienced

Basically demands for succesful era is that Brighton has a skilled CEO and board who knows what they are doing. Sami isnt so well rounded so he needs support from the back office. His tactical skills are good and he usually gets most from his players.

I think season will be succesful if Seagulls are playing in BPL next year. Season is ok if they are in top 6. Season isnt succesfull if they are below 6 in table.

Let's see what happens, but I will promise to keep my thumbs up for Brighton & Hove Albion F.C.

Hyypia won't be signing players anyway.

I liked the idea that you "play the game in your head",
"It doesn't matter whether you are fast or slow if you can read the game."

An intelligent attitude.

Looks like he could still do a job...

I would love to say yes, but honestly I dont think so. We have some rising stars, but with their physics they dont have a chance in Championship.

Absolutely. Let us postpone all praise until it is justified, but be ready to condemn the second a Saturday at 5 o'clock is anything less than triumphant.

This is an imaginative and ambitious appointment of someone who has extensive experience of English football, as player achieved at the highest level and has gone on to manage with some success a good club in a good league. It is not "icky worship" to say that if you've got a problem with that you'll either have a problem with anybody or your expectations are so inflated you should be wary of wafer-thin mints.
