I think the £10m price tag comes from my earlier post (which was "rubbished") on this thread....... after all we know Naylor comes here for news  *tongueincheek*

No, try reading the previous post that I responded to..... :ffsparr:

My point is that they aren't comparable as Sturridge and Long's games are based on pace, Ulloa's is not. However, there are plenty of instances where players have been sold for inflated fee's.

I did read your post but must have misinterpreted:) £7m would be a good deal but I hope that we are not stupid enough to sell anyone BEFORE a new manager has been appointed and given a chance to evaluate the team and analysed the budget. If he was sold before this happened Qi think we could assume the next manager will not have much control of the teams affairs.
As for overpriced forward........ Andy Carroll rings a bell!

Sorry. Yes, I agree with all of this. Good point about selling before a new manager comes in....... The whole Burke thing and level of influence does concern me.

I remember Alan Mullery said that at the end of each season, especially after promotion, they would sit down and talk about the best players they had played against. The stand out signing was Mark Lawrenson from Preston. It's a system that can still work and I can imagine Leicester have said "Who was the best centre forward we faced this season?"
We should look at this as a compliment, other clubs coveting our players. We all do it and our club saying,"Yeah, you can have him for 10 million," is our way of saying we don't have to sell but if you want to offer stupid money we'll think about it.

I was at his talk when he came to Horsham, he also said that to get promoted you need a 20 goal a season man, and another striker who will regularly chip in. If we're serious about promotion we need to hold on to Ulloa, or have an equal or better replacement lined up.

I agree with this sentiment, but £10mm for a striker who is 28, has never played in the Prem, and looked a little uninterested towards the back end of last season at times, is fantastic money. Especially if the new manager is Sherwood who is not so tactically dependant on playing with lone striker.

There's no way on earth Leicester will pay £10m.

I can't see them paying £7m either.

But if Leo fancies the Premier League, and you'd imagine/hope he would, then you would think a deal will be struck.

£5m cash + goals / staying up / appearances bonuses and a sell-on. I imagine both parties would see that as reasonable business.

Jeez!! On this thread we have people insisting we shouldn't sell before the new manager is in. On other threads we have people insisting that we don't buy before the new manager is in.

If the argument for not buying is that the new manager gets to "build his own team" then selling before he arrives gives him more chances to build!

If the argument for not selling is the new manager needs to assess the existing players, then he will be stuck working with what he has.

FFS people we really can't have this both ways! Preseason will start too soon for the luxury of both of these things to happen!

There is no way we could replace Leo quickly if we only receive £5m up front for him.

Yea, but we seem to sell when we don't need to.

Tottenham didn't NEED to sell Gareth Bale, but they got a ridiculous offer, so would have been daft not to take it.

£10m for Ulloa would be very much comparable.

There is WAY better out there, for that kind of money. Better, faster and younger.

This! I don't want Leo to go, but if he were to go it has to be at price where we can adequately replace him. EVERYONE wants a 20-goal-a-season striker, and we already have one.

ALF isn't worth anything like as much as Ulloa. He's half the player!

I'm not sure he's even that. Ulloa is a bit annoying when he's not scoring, Le Fondre is non-existant
