I understand what you're saying, but it would be very easy for the club to make it clear to first time visitors where they are sitting.

EG on the phone.

"I'd like two tickets in the northwest stand please?"
"I notice from your purchase history that you have never visited the Amex before?"
"That's right. I wanted to bring my timid 96 year-old Mum for the first time."
"Oh in that case, can I suggest the West Stand Lower? Or the East? It's just that the North West is the singing section and it can get a little loud there."
"Oh, ok. That's good to know."
"East or West then?"
"Oh North West please. My Mum's a nutter!"

Or Online:

Press to confirm purchase

'You are purchasing two tickets in the North West Stand. Please note that this is the singing section at the Albion. It is the noisiest part of the ground. Are you sure you wish to proceed?'

EASY

You are bang on right in saying others have rights, but the club should do more to protect all fans. Including the diehards that have been here long before them and will be here long after. I know I'm talking to a diehard as well.

Indeed, no 'new' ST holder should be allowed to complain (see nimbys buying a house under the Gatwick Flight Path) just simply demand anyone that complains must move to another area & buy them a free hot dog

Maybe we should designate a section for the singers, and everyone who wants to sing can go there, and everyone who doesn't has to stay quiet.

The stewards positioned by the pitch exit between the North and East stands were paying rapt attention to the 'standing section' of the North throughout, much more so than usual, continually talking into their radios. They normally spend their time watching the game, chatting, flicking through a clip file containing pages of mugshots (presumably of banned fans) and watching the North, but not to the extent that they were on Saturday.

Maybe the North could be renamed The North Korea Stand, you could grass up your neighbour for not clapping loudly enough, and we could have a 12ft high mural (old school Communist style) of Paul Barber on the back wall.

I sit in N1H, near to where the stewards gathered. They was watching over the group of boys at the back of where I sit as they was being loud and rowdy. I love the fact that someone makes a atmosphere. Surely the club need to identify a singing section. Plus warn people buying tickets/season tickets that one of the stands is the singing stand and will contain swear words etc.

I think I met him at Peterborough (away) last year, top bloke. We need the atmosphere as well, banning him would be a huge loss. Who gets intimidated by signing?? The sort of person who says nothing at the time and write a letter of complaint the next day?? Maybe these intimidated people should be sitting in the family stand... Everyone's happy that way!

If only he had worn a blue and white dreadlocks wig , got the obligatory Albion tattoos on his face , changed his name to Mr Brighton & Hove Albion FC and rang a bell in the North Stand.

Wow the song police are out in force on this thread - my only point is - the song which is being moaned about lasts about 3 minutes, it is usually sung once a game, that leaves over 90 minutes of playing time when it is not heard (well maybe 75 for some fans). - Is it REALLY a problem
Spot on,but then i think it`s a great song from back in the Goldstone days, and hope that the guy known on here as the Judge is allowed to keep up the good work he is doing in the sanitised Grave yard that is now the north stand:albion2:

It's a football message board where many have differing opinions, what do you expect? everyone walking around giving the peace sign and chanting "All you need is Love" is possibly not going to happen....... (Just a thought.....but could the North Stand singers get their heads around the words to that? )

We are wacthing the most boring brand of football played by the Albion for years lucky to see us score a goal in a game, and the club are going to Ban some supporters for trying to create an atmosphere you couldn`t make it up.We went up to watch Crawley V the Skates last season shit result but great atmosphere behind the goal in the crawley end with no hassle from the club who welcome support from their fans

If the atmosphere in the north dies, I'll want to move my recently repositioned season ticket. If it turns out the atmosphere in the SW is better, I'm sure Cheeky Monkey will never let me forget his suggestion to go there instead of the north (either that or he just wants to keep his distance).

Either way, if you want a library go to the bloody east lower, it's 'orrible.

If The Judge goes, someone needs to step up and take over. Anyone know another town crier with titanium vocal cords? He's often all we can hear from the EL. He's impressive to say the least and makes (my) away games that much better.

If you sit by Cheeky Monkey, I saw you on Saturday and I have to say neither of you seemed to be contributing to the atmosphere. ;)

Having said that, well yes, neither were we in the east stand lower library.

Christ this is a grim read.

The Judge is a great bloke. What is more significant is what he is not. He is not a trouble-maker, a thug or anything like that.

Go left is not the worst chant out there.

I hate to see lots of fans leave early but its their call. I wouldn't pull anyone up for it.

Hope it gets resolved in his favour.

So you are aware of all the facts and issues concerning this then? can you confirm the club want to ban a supporter (or supporters as you state above) for just singing to loudly/ creating an atmosphere? please do let us all know about your inside information regarding this.

What a grim thread, very very close to giving up our season tickets, bored of watching boring football in a sterile environment,
People grassing up other supporters to stewards about boisterous behaviour feck that
Maybe 3pm Saturday afternoons might be more entertaining watching live streams of ALBION games standing side by side with all your mates having a beer and a laugh down the pub , what going to football in 70's & 80s 90s used to be about

We don't know the full detail but if correct that the OB are involved then there must be more to this than meets the eye. The OB are normally conspicuous by their ultra low profile at The Amex and for having the lightest of touches when they do intervene. Normally this is prompted by persistent ignoring of previous warnings. Maybe some of the Judge's cohort of followers are being a bit too enthusiastic in their 'encouragement' of others.

Too many stadiums are too sanitised and rely on goal music, a drum or announcer shouting into his mic in order to create some sort of atmosphere. God forbid we ever resort to such artificial methods. So censoring The Judge who is often responsible for creating much of the otherwise non-existent atmosphere would be a huge own goal. What is the point of having a 30k stadium if it seems like a library?

When I go to games I want to experience a loud, edgy and competitive atmosphere created by the fans, it shouldn't be abusive - but it is a football match FFs. If punters don't like what is being sung in the North Stand then don't go in there. That's the beauty of having such a big stadium.
