I've got more and more impressed with Ed and he's grown into the job. He'll make an excellent PM - assuming the Tories haven't totally destroyed the country by the time they're booted out.

Poor deluded soul.:nono::nono:
Who do you think made a fair fist of destroying the country before the Coalition took control?

Never ever again will I vote for Labour. Blair and Brown ruined this country and Labour could be set to make things even worse.
Make a note of what he says now, and then in a couple of years if we are unfortunate enough to have this lot in, lets see if anything really changes.

wow ! deep thinking there ! ... too deep I'm afraid. I mean getting the banks to start lending at reasonable rates and trying to stop the money draining out of the country in tax avoidance.

How would the Ed's get the banks lending at "reasonable rates"? By the stated policy of scrapping the cuts and raising government spending... er ok good luck with that. You can forget your AAA for a start.

As for tax avoidance, this rose at a faster rate under the last labour government then ever before so the record there is not exactly great either although I agree something needs to be done by whoever is in power. There really is no need for Jersey or the Isle of Man to be tax havens for example but those in power are too afraid of the shit storm caused by their wealthy backers if they do something about it. The UK has more tax havens than any other nation. Are Labour committed to scrapping them??? NO.

Why would he make promises for 2 years time now , makes no sense.

We can all talk about spending money on worthy projects but that is my point, it has to come from somewhere and he won't say where. The reason being is that in 2 years (not that he will get in) he won't be able to generate it unless he borrows, and you can't borrow your way out of a funding crisis I'm afraid.

Are you saying that interest rates are too high ?

Crikey this is tough going, " I should have explained by " reasonable rates " I include the terms and conditions as well.

However, I seem to be in a minority here in that I think we really have a busted country with little hope for the future. I can't see how the coalition have done anything to change our slide in to a nation where the majority of its people are living close to poverty with little hope of it changing. I am not sure if he and the Labour Party can really turn it round but his grasp of the county's problems is correct and will strike a chord with many people.

Of course, you can carry on throwing in references to Blair, Brown, illegal wars etc or try to minutely dismember some little facet of this post to prove a small point or examine its grammar, but that is just trying to deflect from the overall truth that Ed Milliband has got it right. A whole generation is growing up without hope.

Well he only lives in Primrose Hill and as we all know that is pretty strong Labour territory. Then add the fact he is M/P for Doncaster North i can't understand if he is a 'man of the people' he does not live somewhere like Canning Town ?

I really cant beleive anyone listens to this shite anymore they are all the same great speeches, same old same old when in power.

What he said ^^

Everyone is stuck in a timewarp - the days of class have gone, Labour and Conservatives are run by the same people with the same policies, they just have different coloured badges on. Milliband this, Cameron that, Ed Balls George Osbourne - they are all useless twats!

The whole system needs to go, and whatever appears in it's place needs to attract decent people rather than a load of power hungry tossers who set out for a career in politics.

Conjecture !

Things change, who knows what manifesto will be needed when it is time to sell it to the voters.

Agree he probably wont get in, as much as the not voted for coalition continue to mess it up and u turn on everything I just dont think Milliband installs any confidence due to his personality

Ok lets talk about principles and not past failures then. I think this little story sums it up nicely. (And no, it isn't actually me in the story, and I have never voted Tory fwiw)

Recently, whilst I was working in the flower beds in the front garden, my neighbours stopped to chat as they returned home from walking their dog. During our friendly conversation, I asked their 12 year old daughter what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be Prime Minister one day. Both of her parents – Labour Party voters - were standing there, so I asked her: "If you were Prime Minister what would be the 1st thing you would do?"
She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people."
Her parents beamed with pride!
"Wow, what a worthy goal!" I said. "But you don't have to wait until you're Prime Minister to do that!" I told her.
"What do you mean?" she replied.
So I told her: "You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, trim my hedge and I'll pay you £50. Then you can go down to the Town Centre, find a homeless man and can give him the £50 to buy food." She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless man come over and do the work and you can just pay him the £50?"
I said, "Welcome to the Conservative Party.
