I really would not have a problem with a player with International experience who can win the ball, hold it up and give us some muscle up front. I can't believe how unrealistically high our expectations have become in a year.

Did I say anything negative about it? I have literally no idea if Heskey would be a good signing at this level or not, I'm a bit ambivelant if he came either way TBH because I haven't seen him play in a long time.

But given above it looks like its Kitson!

It may not follow that the main perm target is a better player, or even comparable, just Gus has a preference for a perm deal?

Indeed - we know that our first target was Sebastian Ribas - very good player but how excited would people on here have been had we managed to sign him. The vast majority would never have heard of him ???

Quick trip to Wiki would have sorted that, especially if misterspatch had edited his goals to game ratio as well.

Do we have any idea how "iminent" this may be. I'm thinking that the "loan" striker would be taken only if the permanent deal is definitely a no go, so is that a case of trying, trying and trying again for this permanent deal until teh window starts closing, then we make a 31st Aug move for the back-up loan deal.

I would hope Gus wants whichever target lands, to be with us for the start of the season. A Zamora-style (or Zamora himself - someone did mention a NSC "meltdown") addition the day before the season kicks off.

The season starts a week today so he better get a move on.

In which case, we wouldn't want to leave it too late, as by the end of August EVERYONE is chasing any available striker, so we wouldn't want him to get interest from a better option.

well maybe lukaku has already snubbed interest for fulham to play for us
