Your playing career...

My playing career peaked at the age of 11, by which time, thanks to the training skills of an Irish nun, I'd attained the heady heights of being good enough to play for Newport Primary Schools. We then moved away to the midlands, where they tried to get me playing rugby.

Ages 7 - 12 - Worthing Dynamo's and Broadwater C of E school team.

During the Dynamo years, I was Scouted at a 6-a-side tournament by a Portsmouth FC scout.

Said scout forgot to mention that the academy training was indoors and so needed white soled shoes rather than astro's. We didn't bother.

Dad got in contact with Brighton & Hove Albion FC and I went for a few training sessions in the "Centre of Excellence" at Worthing Leisure Centre on a Monday night. Signed a 2 year contract :)

A combination of probably lack of talent, lack of real desire and health problems (crohn's disease) I wasn't taken any further after the 2 years.

Then played for Southwick FC between the ages of roughly 12 and 14.

Then had a bit of a lay off due to health problems.

Played a bit of Saturday league briefly and Worthing 6 aside league.

Now for the last few years on and off I've been playing for EBR Athletic, a Sunday League 2nd div team!

Under 11's - under14's Lurgashall Border league
14-18 Lurgashall, West Sussex Leagues
19-30 Northchapel, West Sussex Leagues( including a spell as player Manager, Never to be recommended)
30-31 Witley and Milford, Some Surrey league!
31-35 Petworth
35 retired due to snapped ACL

Probably played about 600 games in total in all the West Sussex Divs,
3 red cards (only one deserved!) we won a few league titles and runner up's and a few cups along the way.

Played in all position apart from Centre forward and goalie, but was predominantly a right or left back.

Although i was never the most skillfull on the pitch i rarely gave the opposition an easy game!

No didn't play under him was in the team before he was manager and played with him , the manager was Ray Reeves who was a staunch Brighton fan and who i unfortunately heard died some months ago . I was one of the original members which started the team many years ago . Great guy Jurgen though , shame to hear the team folded .

Who are you? I was an original founder member of The Grenadier too.
