France is great - love the countryside. Some of the customs seem strange but i like that quirkiness.
Germany - good people, everything works and is efficient.
I've had good times in Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary and others.
The worst was Romania - rife with crime, shit nightlife, hostile locals.

If you pushed me I'd say that I wasn't a massive fan of Bulgaria as a country but still had a great time there. Each to their own, I'd struggle to really say a European country that I dislike.

Same. I have been all over Europe and not a single country I would class as Ghastly.

It really annoys me when people say things like "I hate the French" - which i realise is not what the OP is saying, but........

Is such a judgement based on a one off visit to a Calais wine superstore where the toilets were blocked up? France is a glorious country if you bother to get around a bit.

Personally I haven't been far enough afield to comment on where the worst is.

Love France and the French people, by and large, are friendly if you drop the arrogance that Brits abroad are sometimes prone to adopt.
I struggled in Romania some years back - culturally very different but having little common language makes it even more difficult. Targetted (and not only by street beggars)in a way that was aggressively unfriendly in a way that I haven't encountered elsewhere. Enough that I won't be going back anyway.
