Wish we had someone like him up front in our side, he's transformed Reading's season since his arrival, before that they were heading nowhere... Just goes to show what a difference a QUALITY front man can make.

El Abd was immense last night. But I agree, I'd take someone like Roberts like a shot. I'm pretty convinced that if we had Ricky Lambert in our team, we'd have walked this league. You could probably say the same for the rest of the top 8 in fact.

Not sure what you were watching but he was totally owned by El-Abd. Unbelievable that he wasn't booked or worse as his frustration was clearly getting the better of him.

This.

But then i believe Adam can do a job on almost anyone if instructed to.

That said Roberts touch and all round play was far superior to CMS.

Did CMS ever have a good touch or has it just disappeared?

El Abd handled him very well but he is still a good player and has made a big difference to Reading.
Sure he was play-acting, sure he used his elbows, sure he was up to every trick in the book but so were some of our players.
Given the choice over him or the inept Ashley Barnes, I would have to ponder the decision for a milli-second and plump for Mr.Roberts.

I think he's a woeful premier league player but is very effective at this level.

For me, the difference between Reading and us over the season is that they have a quality striker and a quality keeper. Brez played well tonight, but over the season it's these positions that have cost us.

Still, we've had a great season and it's not over until it's over

Good job we don't have an inept Ashley Barnes then.

"In my opinion its just the old pro 'working the refs' so that he gets the decision to go our way next time."
he also worked the crowd..must have taken lessons from Robbie Savage
Adam did pretty well all things considered

Are you serious? Id rather have Ashley Barnes in the team all day, works his socks off and works for the team. He looked like a man possesed after the penalty last night.

Even when not contributing directly, he's a threatening presence, he's mobile, has good control and annoys the hell out of defenders and spectators. The true comparison is not with Barnes, who plays a different role, but with Vokes. If we'd got Roberts instead we'd be where Birmingham are now, if not Reading.

Totally agree with the original poster.

Roberts is the kind of player that Brighton are crying out for. Experienced, profesional in his all round play and working the ref, and can always get you a goal.

IMHO Brighton are 3-4 players short of being 3-4 places higher in the table. They have some great "Championship" players but could just do with that little bit of Premier League class. I.E. A Federichi, an Ian Harte, a Barry Robson and a Ricky Lambert/Jason Roberts.

Imagine the impact 3-4 players like this could have alongside Vicente etc

This is the crucial element. Second half roberts was decent on the ball TBH. When up front on his own the ball came into him, he controlled it first time then spun the defender greer, which wasnt difficult all night, and then presented reading with a 3 on 2. Quality forward play. CMS is a million miles away from this god bless him.

I agree, he looked a real asset to me. I can think of a number of games (Burnley on Good Friday being the most recent) where you can see a completely different outcome if he'd been playing for the Albion.
