Good scoring record and now championship experience - young - must be worth 500k + ? Can't see him being anything more than a squad player here.

He only has 6 months of his contract left, I woud imagine us offering him a one year contract at the end of season. But I would be happy to sell him although I cant see us getting £500k for him.

It's been really difficult to judge him this season as he has been so often played out of position - attacking midfield or out wide. It's a shame he didn't really put in a great show against Wrexham when he did have the chance to play up front, but then he was on his own, same as CMS has been struggling with recently. He's definitely gone off the boil since scoring a few goals early season, but I don't think that it's all necessarily down to him. Would love to see him and CMS in a 4-4-2 which (I may be wrong), I don't think has happened

Have no problem with Barnes as a squad player. Our squad's not exactly overflowing with fit players at the moment is it? and he's still potentially more use to us than the money we'd get for him, surely ??? :albion2:

I would offer him a 2 year deal, perfectly happy to have him in my squad. Only going to get better. Plenty to improve on in his game, but he will.

Insanity has hit a new level £500k for Barnes ??????

I would take £125k and leggit PDQ !!! He' did a job for Albion in League 1, but that or below is his level, sorry Ash but true mate !!!!

Meopham, Kent.
I still really like him, and just think he has spent too long playing out of position.

Top player, young enough to still be getting better, has scored goals at this level, and is NOT injury-prone.

20 goals last season, 7 so far this year and can take a good penalty. I agree with you.

If we were looking to purchase this player from a Championship club in our current position and we were still in league 1,what would we be expected to pay? I say keep him,but for the purpose of this post we would have to pay? in excess of £350,000 anything less would be an outcry!!!

Barnes is a "Proven" league 1 predator, young and going to improve-those that think he is worth only £150k are MAD

As long as he's on a sensible wage, yes - this.

Really not a Championship Striker. Time to sell up I think. Anything more than £300k would represent a deal.
Were'nt Bristol City rumoured to be watching him at the start of the season? What price was quoted for then?

He's gone off the boil a bit, admittedly, but we know he can score and we suspect he can improve, and he stays fit. Seems like someone we'd hang on to for the rest of the season to me. He gets slated by some who will probably never change their views but he's had some good touches this season that seem to be commented on less than they might be.

I think Barnes is okay and yes agree could improve, all those "we shouldve kept Murray" post, Barnes played less and only a couple of goals short of GM last season, he is young and will get better imo

Keep him. He has goals in him and he has shown that, I'm fairly confident if he'd been given the minutes that CMS has, and played in the correct position, he'd have at least 10 goals by now.
