Had time to reflect on today's game

I totally agree Dicker got caught on the ball which led to the goal and apart from one other chance by Sharp, not that worried by doncaster as a team, yeah tidy on ball but no danger.
I wasnt that impressed with Billy sharp i thought he had more to his play than just his finishing, Dunk and Greer controlled him and other forwards Easily

the crowd all went mad in the moment that led to their goal - we all saw it happening five seconds earlier! dither... dither... dither, shit lost it, space, bang, lucky deflection, shot, will it go wide? shit nooo it's in, ****, goal, bollocks.

i think gus will be well aware of this weakness of ours and hope we can start to stamp it out of our game.

Old popsider , I'm sure you will reflect on the contents of your post tomorrow and realise it lacks any respect.
I disagree that Dunk on reflection should have gone for this one tackle but perhaps may have gone for a series of clumsy tackles that would eventually have resulted in a red card. On that basis we should have lost a player too.

I do agree that the physical side of Brighton's game at times was nothing less than over the top and the referee was their 12th. man. It happens to all teams on these occasions.
However they have won the game and to call all Brighton fans 'arseholes' is at best churlish and at worst spiteful.

Either side could have won that game today and the state of the pitch (soaked) made clumsy tackles look downright dangerous. We should have won the game but if you come out with a negative attitude in the 2nd. half you probably deserve to lose , shame it was in that way and losing those players.

I dont see how you think you deserved to win the game, what chances did you have ? the sharp goal and one he missed what else ?
We had loads, 2 one on ones with keeper, one virtually cleared off line, 2 goals, and loads of other shots and headers either saved or over bar.
I think we should have won by a bigger margin to be honest if we had started the game like we played in 2nd half which is what we normally play like, the 1st half i think we was at the races

No offence meant, but this could easily be turned around, and I don't think many would disagree with it. On reflection, the ref was woeful, and whilst he seemed lenient to you, it's just as possible he was doing the same to us. 2 out of 10 for him.

Today both sides were pretty physical, somewhat out of the ordinary for sides trying to play attractive football.

Not read any of this, but Donny with a different ref could have had at least 1 red before Dunks 'tackle' which just looked like sharp cant hack it.

Oh well. 3 points, move on!

i for one appreciate the conciliatory tone! i remember you posting before the match... it's a shame it has ended up with a nasty edge.

a lot of us won't agree that the ref was on our side... i think it might be fair to say that he f***ed up a few important calls to our (fairly major) detriment in the first half, and we might have had a better second half of his decisions because of it. nothing major, but perhaps one or two little ones. i think the fact dunk stayed on was the precedent set by being lenient with a variety of poor or dangerous challenges by your players.

the physical side... well i think again that is a little blinkered. we gave as good as we had got in the second half, that's about it... and we can't help it if calderon's head broke hayter's ankle!!! (hope it's not a break though)

hope donny do ok, for the sake of fans like yourself who are (more or less!) fair minded.

Doncaster didnt like it that we was also good on the ball and they got a bit of own medicine, we not a team who will just run off scared, we have a bunch of players who will battle but not one of them is a dirty player.
I thought doncaster played well for 1st half but from the start of 2nd half we looked way the better team and i wouldnt actually want one Doncaster player in the brighton team including billy sharp, yeah he is a good goalscorer but what else did he do ? Greer and dunk had him in pocket all afternoon

To survive you could do with the best of ours and for us to survive we could do with some of your best, try to be impartial it helps in making wise posts. Sharp not good enough for you ? Look at yourself lad.
Both our teams struggled really today and neither grabbed any real superiority over any decent extended period . I don't fool myself why do you we will both struggle against the stronger teams on this showing.

The last line is the most telling. We wont get relegated I'm sure but we certainly won't be troubling the other end of the table either. I do hope Sharps injury is not that bad as you really will struggle without him. Sharp was class in my opinion. We need a new central midfielder at the least.

I just didnt see what all the fuss was about with regard to Billy Sharp yeah you can tell he knows where the net is, but what else ? much prefer Mackell Smith id put money on him getting as many as Sharp if he was available next game and Mackell offers more in general play.
I think your very tidy on the ball but 2nd half you couldnt get the ball off us, i think yes we will struggle if we performed like did in 1st half but that didnt happen much last year, the 2nd half was more the Brighton we know so i dont think we will struggle.
Mid table i reckon upwards, no doubt in my mind we will not be in a relagation battle.

Thank you JLS but we all call it the way we see it, I can't remember the show tonight concentrating on our vicious play ......we simply had to compete in that cauldron today and as I repeat the pitch made many tackles from both sides look dangerous rather than undercontrolled.
Btw if you have read my posts , you will have taken my advice and be picking up your winnings tomorrow for 1st. scorer.
I urged you all to lump on regardless of result. :lolol:

So new capacity is 22,500.
Attendance today 20,219.

I guess it was the empty away end eh?? :)

Good looking stadium but it's a bit League 1 size to be fair.
I guess there's no point having eyes bigger than your belly... well done for not being greedy :)

I was going to congratulate Southampton on their impressive win today. Your unnecessary comment has made me rethink, but I don't see Southampton as a rival anymore, so congratulations on your impressive win today. Lallana is definitely Premier League class.

League one size ? when we got bigger crowds than half of the games on today, check out the attendences Laddy.
Also we sold out all tickets we had, could you see spaces ? but you could see loads in the doncaster end.

Thank you at last , someone who saw a shite ref, a very slippery surface and 2 physical sides neither worse than the other. To read some of the post on here. you would think that we shoved you all over the park with impunity. That was simply not the case and the inference that we are a 'dirty' team from more than a few posters quite simply has never been levelled at one of SO'Ds teams ever before in my knowledge either in the press or on oppo fora. Poor cherubs , oh and it's us that have 2 badly injured players to sort out.
I only wish we had been as physical as you were and kept 11 men on the pitch and not lost our talisman :(

Southampton had 25,000 in attendance and st marys can hold 31,000? Guess were not the ones with eyes bigger than our bellys dickhead? P.s Brighton sold every ticket they could in the home stands. Donny let us down!

Bless you.. it's called banter??
Yes.. I know the empty seats were in Donny end hence my initial post, + my dig about 'the right size' comes on the back of knowing you have already applied for planning for an extension.
Now that is a bit weird.. why not just build it the right size in the first place?

Anyway.. I can tell those of you that are still up take things a bit too seriously so suffice to say we are not rivals anymore.. we have Pompey to get silly about and you have Palace.

Good luck

sense of humour failure. you can say what you like about... well you can't, but PARTICULARLY not about my new AMEX!!! anyway... banter my arse!

agree about proper rivalries, but i can see a phrase along the lines of 'keeping up with appearances' or something, rearing it's ugly head at some point...
