I'm not suggesting for a second that Bennett or A.N.Other first XI player will be either, but these kind of statements mean very little.

If Bennett and/or his agent really want a move then there's very little we can do about it.

He's too valuable to rot in the reserves, so a deal would be struck.

Player power is immense, nomatter how hard a game our chairman plays.

Agreed but re Benno he seems a decent honest kid and loves the club and wants to play at Falmer... I just can't see him going...

This ladies and gentlemen, is what we call karma.
We've had many well documented troubles over the last 20 odd years, we've suffered at the hands of ruthless profiteers, we've suffered at the hands of back stabbing, lying, cheating organ grinders and monkeys.
This is our karma for fighting to keep the club alive. You get what you put in and this is what we get - good times!
We've a wonderful chairman who bleeds blue and white , we've got a brilliant management team and we've got a group of players who are top of our league quite convincingly and playing the best football i've seen since i started watching the Albion in 1979
I am very happy indeed!

All TB has to do is put an unrealistic price on him as he is under a long contract and he would soon be back in the first team and not sulk in the reserves.

My worry is why the sudden outburst from Norwich??? I mean if they want something they are hardly gonna stop and what if we cant get them to stay quiet lets say in the summer??? Im just worried others bare trying to cash in on our gain

I think what is says is we don't have to sell and we don't want to sell, the olny reason we would sell is if Bennett was desperate to go, there is no point keeping an unhappy player, but I don't think that is the case here. It would be nice if he came out and told us it's not the case but this statement makes me alot happier

Not saying Bennett would in any way but if a player wants a move there is not a lot a club can do long term contract or not

tbf i don't think norwich city have said a word on it, just we're negotiating to bring in a player.

then someone mentioned him on this site friday and poyet said we'd made an enquiry yesterday

not even a rumour on any norwich boards of an interest before all this

club is very secretive these days.

But surely signing a new 4 year contract tells us his attentions?

Quite. This news doesn't reassure me at all to be honest. Until Bennett comes out and says he doesn't want to leave or one of the clubs say Norwich are not pursuing their interest then it could still happen. Roll on the 1st of Feb.

What's "unhappy" about Elliott Bennett at the moment?

I think Elliott is very happy at the moment but you've got agents out there who can make a lot of money from transfer deals. It wouldn't suprise me at all if he was saying to Elliott, "they'll triple your wages, they'll buy you a house etc etc".

That's correct. If Norwich, or indeed anyone else speaks to Bennett's agent, and say 'hey, we'll pay you 50% more than you're on at brighton' then his head may be turned.

However, Bloom can just put a very high price on him, thus frightening Norwich off.

I don't think they have that much money, and I'd be surprised if they'd pay £1million for a third tier player.

Personlyy if I was Bennett, I'd wait till the end of the season.

We go up and he's in the driving seat to renegotiate his contract. We fail to go up, then (if he wants) he could get his agent to start touting him around.
