Wow. I'm sure every Albion fan who saw our performance today will want to start their own thread. This was no ordinary victory. Forget charlton. forget one night at the palace. Forget victories at anfield last century. Because today we were that good. But do not forget Posh were an exciting attacking side at start of play, feared by league 1 defences throughout the land. We needn't have worried though, any trepidation we might have felt from craig m-s & mclean had evaporated within the 1st 10mins. For to score a goal, you need the ball. And Albion simply didn't let them near it. Some breathtaking passes, majestic wilderbeast like passing from side to side as we torn into Peterborough and soon went ahead-a bullet like header from barnes that Brighton threatened from the kick-off. No shakey start or 10 mins to find our rhythm. We samba-ed from the whistle and Posh were made to dance to our tune as Caldy soon made it 2. That after the luxury of a missed penalty. A sea of blue and White had been requested by the cambridgshire men. But only Sussex answered. Reduced to 10 by half time, Peterborough could have had 12 and it wouldn't have made any difference. When has watching Brighton ever been this good? We were literally a league above our opposition. And before the inevitable 3rd, posh knew it. Their fans streaming towards the exits, dejected, without hope. "is that your fire drill"? & "nightmare at London road" the Sussex hoards chorused. But it wasn't a nightmare; least not for us. No it was more like a dream. The day Brighton epitomised the beautiful game. We were that good. The day we lay siege to London road. Magnificient.

Mr Seagull, that is an almost perfect summary of today! Make the most of watching this football, it's immense! I was chuckling most of the way through the second half. This is our team playing like this!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got back myself and couldn't agree more. What a cracking game to take my 7 year old lad to (only his 3rd away match ever!). From the start til final whistle Peterboro could not get near us, our work rate, passing and quality of football was like nothing I have ever seen in over 35 years watching the Albion. It was total football and sublime mastery over a good side in this division. Coming out at the end i was behind 3 Posh season ticket holders and they were saying we were the best side in at least 3 years to come to their place, they conceded we had absolutely caned their arses and taught them a lesson in football. I have never been prouder to be an Albion fan than today - top quality and a great day out.

If you are able to sign in to Player and watch Gary Johnson's interview on the Posh site please do.

He looks like a man who has spent a week in the trenches - completely shell-shocked.
Marvellous stuff!

Old Hand Speaking. i have had 46 years of away games starting with Aldershot on Grand National Day 1964. I cannot recall a more impressive performance in a league game, given the status of the opposition. I was not at Charlton this season but was there for the 4-0 in 1973-4. Performance-wise, Liverpool (in the Cup '83) is the only similar experience that springs to mind.

Class. We will beat anyone in this division playing like that.

To put it simply and I'm really not exaggerating...that was the best football I've ever seen in my life, not just from Brighton. It was so controled and skillfull.

:albion2:

P.S Did anyone else hear the BBC CAMBS commentator after the game say 'As the Brighton fans sung, it really was a nightmare at london road for the posh'

:clap2:

It was a total class performance, completely outplayed them. Their frustration was visible for all to see after about 15 minutes when it was clear they just couldn't compete with our total football.

As I've been saying to anyone who'll listen since I got back to uni after the game, rarely have I seen a game so one-sided. You could hardly tell these sides were from the same division, let alone promotion chasing rivals. An absolutely supreme performance. The scary thing is we are just getting better and better. Keeping level headed is going to be extremely important in the next few weeks.
