I hope I'll be forgiven for not indulging in the NSC time-honoured tradition of criticising the bloke before he's kicked a ball for us, but I would just like to as the question as to how the official site can call it a 'five month permanent contract'. A contract for five months is for, er, five months. That's not permanent by any definition.

Welcome to the club, Liam. Good luck.

Insofar as not a loan, can't be recalled? Beyond that I'm damned if I know what they're driving at?

I think they mean he's our player, contracted full-time to us for a fixed period of five months. But the wording they've used is so contradictory as to be unintelligible.

A ten year contract is not permanent. Polo mints. Does this actually matter, it is 5 months. I guess it won't be too long before some idiot shouts his surname with an N in it. Wyoming

So can he play against Walsall on Saturday or not ?

Seems unlikely that

a) The club let us know about him signing 7 hours after the deadline for permanant deals or;

b) a 21 year old would be thrown straight into the starting line up when we have other players in his position already. He could of course make the squad.

The sooner people realise we have no hope of getting promoted this season the better. We will win a few we will lose a few and be mid table / lower mid table all season and finish between 9th and 15th with 60 points. The squad we have is nowhere near good enough for a top 2 finish and way short of a top 6 finish. With the lack of money invested and a lack of signings it is clear promotion this season is not a priority for Bloom or Poyet and I would think the priority is now having an exciting first season at Falmer getting promotion and possibly winning the league. This is the game plan so accept it. We AIN'T going up.

To get into the spirit of NSC I am shocked by this signing and having looked on wikipedia it is clear this lad is useless and not worth the lengthy five month bumper deal we have given him.

I was hoping billionaire TB would have hijacked the Mascherano deal as players are jumping at the chance to come to Brighton (the south coast Real Madrid)

I think no hope is a little strong.

Keeping Calderon and painter gives us a good defence with the Greer signing which will prove a real coup in my opinion. We now have 2 good centre backs fighting for the last place....with hopefully whingy on the bench.

Matt Sparrow will be a much better player than Crofts and will be player of the season. I reckon and if we can get this elusive left winger in, our midfield will look strong.

Having Dicker, crofts and smith fighting for places is a good bench and therefore we could end up with a strong midfield.

Then we come to the final jigsaw, the elusive striker!

We get a decent one in on a perm and hopefully one on loan and were there. As we stand I think we have a playoff team or verge of, with a striker and a winger in, I think the place is cemented and who knows what success we could have.

To write the season off due to being impatient isnt realistic, lets judge on what we can do this time next week.

Not quite what I hoped for, (just 15 games last year for a dreadful Stockport team), but at least the expectations for him, from supporters will not be ridiculously high.

He may be the player that bucks the trend, and actually turns out to be far better than we expected...?

I really hope so.

Let's face it - with signings like this NOBODY on here knows how good they're going to be. Could plug the hole left m=by Nav - Got some good reviews from Chelsea fans apparently. We shall see...
