I can't remember where his third red card came from (one v tranmere, today's and ???) so will let someone else put the argument across for what his red cards have cost us.

Do his goals and points give us more than his indiscipline takes away? Does it give us enough more than it takes away? Is it realistic to expect his indiscipline to be such a problem next year? Three reds in one season is incredibly rare, not exactly something we can say with any confidence will happen next year too, is it?

He's only been sent off twice this season.

To give a bit more complex analysis (I had commented it was a simplistic 17 points he won us)

murray.jpg

Let's go through each game...

Tranmere
Goal won no points. Sending off came after we were already 2-1 down. From what I recall it was a generally poor performance by the entire team, so no guarantee we would have got a second or third ith him on, so can't say the sending off cost us.

Wycombe
Without doubt his goals affected the result. Without them we'd be out of the cup.

Southampton
Scored the first two, which gave us the lead and enough of an advantage that we didn't need a third. Definitely instrumental in three points.

Wycombe
First started our fight back, second put us in the lead, 3rd and fourth put us beyond reach. Another 3 points his goals won us.

Walsall
Murray's goal started us off, walsall equalised, we needed a goal from Forster for all three. How should we count this? without it, it would be 1-1, so that's 2 points it gave us. However, if we take away the rest of our team's contribution his goal earns us 1 point. If he didn't score, would we have got anything? Since everyone is going to be looking down on him tonight, I will be conservative and say it was one point.

Leyton Orient
1-1 draw, so his goal won us a point

Leeds
1-1 Draw, so his goal won us a point

Brentford
Scored the first, which gave us the lead, which we built on. 3 more.

Tranmere
Scored the first, which gave us the lead, which we built on. 3 more.

With a bit more analysis, his goals have won us 14pts, plus kept us in the FA cup to face non league opponents before heading onto premier league opponents (i.e. got the club some money).

If we had 15 less points and 11 less goals we would be on 40 points, -16 goals, and that would put us third bottom. 5 points from safety (Tranmere would be up a place on their 45 points, along with wycombe who would have the three points glenn won us v them) with 6 points to play for.

He has missed a quarter of this seasons games through suspension alone, as far as im concerned he should have his wage cut by 1/4 to reflect it.

Lino seemed to indicate to Poyet that he he either pushed him away or gave him a slap. Then again the other bloke was trying his best to either swap shirts or get in his pants so fully deserved.

He was having hand bags with their full back. The full back pushed him and glen gave him a slap.

It was with their centre back big bloke from Wolves who kept striding forward, someone should have put him in the stands long before that. Their left back was the cheat who got Bennett booked

Yep, he has bags of ability but how many bookings and red cards can a team looking to be in the top 6 afford from their main striker, very undisciplined or very unprofessional or both, he's obviously not happy down south either I suspect and will become another Leon Knight if he's not careful but at least Leon banged in 26 goals in this div and got us to the championship before he went off his head, I don't think Gus can afford such an ill disciplined player - take the money, there's better out there.

Why do people want to hound out players from our club? NSC is just a platform for spiteful keyboard bully boys these days.

We need another class striker, thats for sure. The rumour is we're signing Vincenzo Motta from some Serie B side. He's scored 42 goals this season.

Two reds & suspension for multiple yellows-Glenda's a liability! If he was as good as he thinks he is,then missing him for 1/4 of the season not fatal, but Rooney he ain't.Not even a BZ replacement :glare:

Poyet has slammed the player that got Murray sent off, sounds like Murray was mugged,Gus seems to think so.

3rd red card of the season , will Gus now re-evaluate his stance on Murray ? A side chasing for automatic promotion cannot have liabilities in the squad. Murray is behaving petulantly and needs to be shown the door.

Only 2 red cards , oops. Plus the 10 yellow cards as well

Gus also claims he didn't see the incident that led to the red card, so I don't think he knows if Murray was mugged (and it doesn't sound like he was according to other accounts)
