No one has misquoted him - Trump says in his own words ‘now if I don’t get elected it’s gonna be a bloodbath’ … ‘that’s gonna be the least of it’ and he says it more than once. He also says ’If this election is not won, I am not sure , you will ever have another election in this Country’there's a problem here, he's misquoted about a word and everyone loses their shit over it. the bloobath comment is relating to trade.
i know full well he uses the language to trigger a reaction in his supporters. it also works on his opponents. they latch on, cry about it, then his supporters see its out of context and that panders to the sense there's a conspiracy to suppress them. whatever we want to call this, Trump a lot, lot better at this than the Democrats.
The language Trump used following the 2020 election and leading up to the storming of the US Capitol was hardly inconsequential and as you say, triggered a reaction - that being the worst threat to the peaceful, democratic transfer of power the Country has ever seen.
Why would you play down any of Trump’s rhetoric? - He’s proven time and time again that he dog whistles to a support base that includes extremists and brainless thugs.
