I agree - I think the abortion issue will feature heavily and Gaza too. It’s not that Biden is doing badly in his first term, especially on the economy but when you get a largely disgruntled electorate (post-pandemic, high inflation etc) you get the ‘grass is always greener’ phenomenon - it doesn’t matter what either party do or say, for a significant proportion of the electorate (mostly swingers/moderates) a change from the incumbent is the predominant thinking.
I'd be interested to see how many governments got re-elected after the pandemic.

I can't say I've paid that much attention, but seems a decent number have stepped down/been voted out

The weird part about this election is that Biden is probably the only person with a decent shot at defeating Trump. It's too late to change candidates and any attempt would likely tear the Democrats apart (remember that sulky Bernie supporters probably got Trump elected in the first place). On the other hand, Trump is probably the only person Biden could defeat.

I feel like at this point any change of candidate, on either side, would probably hand the White House to the Republicans.

Well, if it was a ‘normal’ Republican, that would be fine. While personally my politics would always lean Democrat, I’ve no problem with the US having a proper, true Republican President. Trump is a million miles from that though.

Michael Moore has been involved heavily to tell voters to state "non-commit" on the democrat ballot in Michigan, its all over over Biden's blind support for the Israel war machine.

Gaza is a huge issue among young voters, they won't vote Trump but the danger is they might not vote at all such is the level of disgust. Failing to vote may bury US democracy for good, I don't think that is fully understood
I think that issue is largely magnified in Michigan because it has a substantial arab/muslim population but if voters don’t come out in a swing state like Michigan that could certainly have an real impact on the General Election outcome.
(Although at the moment, with the exception of vast Republican rural States like Wyoming, Arkansas, Idaho or hardcore Democratic States like Vermont, Massachusetts and Delaware and etc, I think most of the Country is in a state of electoral flux).

I absolutely agree though, voter apathy and disenchantment with the political system or a loss of faith in the electoral system is one of the biggest threats to democracy. Trump is the other.

Yeap, Michigan has around 240k Muslims with a high concentration is parts of Detroit. If the Dems lose Michigan they'll almost certainly lose the White House

It's the worst American culture war I've seen in my lifetime, both are viewed as evil personified by each other. Bookmakers have Trump as slight favourite to win and I think he will win but a lot could happen in the meantime. Come election time it will be an 82 year old vs 78 year old.

Brilliant, I love Seth Meyers … and Trump, when you add it all up, it is insane that this man could be voted back into the Whitehouse …😳

Edit- not directed at you but MAGA supporters who have indeed dismissed these claims as ‘fake news’ over the past few years …

So which bit?

  1. That he extorted Ukraine - true - threatened to withhold arms unless they provided dirt on Hunter Biden/Biden?
  2. That he responded to the Covid pandemic with bizarre remedies and conspiracy theories (Hydroxychloroquine claims, swallowing disinfectant ..and actively undermined the Nations response to a once in a lifetime pandemic
  3. That he’s twice impeached
  4. That he’s been indicted for criminal offences 4 times
  5. That he is a racist
  6. That he has been found liable for fraud and sexual abuse
  7. That he has been banned from doing business in State of NY for 3 years
  8. That he owes over half billion dollars in fines - including $453.500 for fraudulent real estate value claims
  9. Encouraged Russia to help him win in 2016 - by asking Russia to get Hillary Clinton’s emails (in a campaign speech)
  10. That he’s about to go on trial for breaking campaign finance laws by paying hush money to cover up an affair
  11. Orchestrated a month long coup attempt to overturn an election (by trying to influence State election officials, bringing frivolous court cases, repeating lies about the election for weeks, culminating in insurrection and attack on the US Capitol to prevent the peaceful transfer of power - ongoing trial
  12. Stole classified documents and obstructed efforts to get them back - ongoing trial
  13. Has never won the popular vote
  14. Glitches on 3, 2 and 1 syllable words, forgets his wife’s name
  15. Cheats at golf
  16. Makes frequent spelling mistakes on his social media accounts

This bit is a matter of opinion granted;

That; ‘He is the single weirdest and most off-putting human being on the face of the f***ing planet.’

Anyone who thinks all or even any of that is ‘Fake News’, their sole source of news must be Breitbart and Fox or they have been walking around with their eyes closed since 2016.
You really do have a bad case of TDS. Your collection of Lawfare and fake news is impressive though. Number 13 is interesting, if it was about the popular vote then importing voters would be a more salient point and you crooks would be put to the sword a lot quicker.

I don't watch Fox news since Tucker Carlson left and am more likely to be watching Navarro media than Breitbart but keep on throwing your negative assumptions about, smearing media you've been conditioned to hate because your not smart enough to think critically and dissect the news.

I simply refer you to the bottom quote in my signature 🙂

Edit - for those that didn’t get the ‘TDS’ reference, CD is suggesting I have Trump Derangement Syndrome - a term applied to Trump haters who are so blinded by hate, that their own critical thinking and judgment of politics is impaired 😂

What CD might not realise is that the term originated with a psychiatrist, Charles Krathammer who coined the phrase Bush Impairment Syndrome in 2003 about Bush haters who become paranoid about anything he did. However,
Krathammer later in an op-ed criticising Trump, used the term TDS to describe the difficulty of distinguishing between Trump’s ‘legitimate policy differences and signs of psychic (as in psychotic) pathology in his behaviour’.

That‘s an epithet definition I can live with 🙂

The meticulous intellectual rebutting of the points made is something to behold.

Maybe voting for Trump is the sensible choice after all.

So you like Tucker Carlson

The Lord Haw Haw of the 2000’s

Says a lot about you.
Words such as
Weak, traitor, coward,

Could be used to describe those sort of people

Watching the excellent C4 documentary on the Rise and Fall of Boris Johnson. Plenty of people warned us what a lying, incompetent clown he was (including his former employer Max Hastings - "I would trust him with neither my wallet nor my wife") but he still got a >80 seat majority.

Trump is, of course, far more dangerous than Johnson but don't under-estimate the stupidity of the majority of Americans. They will re-elect a criminal insurrectionist aided and abetted by the Democrats who could only find Sleepy Joe to go up against him.

I don't think I could stomach that.

Back to the orange dickhead. Irrespective of what anything is said by and to dingodan II, he will have the last laugh for reasons we all know.
